Jeb Bush to Skip Republican Convention
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Gov. Jeb Bush said Tuesday that he won't attend the Republican National Convention next week in New York, where his brother will be renominated, because of the Hurricane Charley recovery.

"There will be a role later on for me to play" in the presidential race, Bush told reporters. "The recovery phase of this is important to get started and ... being up in New York is inappropriate."
...
Bush said he had planned to have a limited role anyway, saying he doesn't really like the national political scene.

"I just don't like all that big dog, big foot national stuff," said Bush, who attended the 2000 Republican Convention in Philadelphia. "I'm going to help my brother and we've got a great team in place and they're working really hard, but being on the Today Show to talk about inside political stuff is not who I am and that's kind of what you do when you're at these national conventions."

So is he not going because of the hurricane or because he doesn't like nat'l politics anyway? Or is it deep seated resentment that George beat him to the Wh? Or is it really something as simple as still having a few voting machines left to rig...

4. Insider polls in Florida showing his popularity going down? Ties to Chimp
brother not the best advertisment right now? Doing the "behind the scenes evil work for his brother by putting the machinery in place to throw the Florida vote again? Or, just another nasty, arrogant Bush who disdains everyone and everything?

5. Right, Jeb needs to stay in Florida and direct the programming....
...of all of the Diebold touchscreen voting machines and the disenfranchisement of minority voters through massive voter registration list purges. He is a lot of work to complete and only 73 days to do it in. Pumpkin head duffus:argh:

13. Picking up the nomination
He's planning to pick up the nomination (and the sympathy vote) on the off chance that something goes BOOM! Hmm, I wonder what would happen if all the top people in the Republican party died in a terrorist attack. Things that make you go hmmm.

11. Republican Convention Strategy
They are going to try to be as much like Democrats as they possibly can. I'll betcha. It will drive their far-right, racist voting base crazy, but they're going to do it. In fact, two bucks says they take a positive view of stem cell or some other issue that the Dems dominate. Now would be the perfect time to call for something really hardcore like universal healthcare and see how far they go.
