Anti-Kerry group sees rise in donations after airing ads
PHILADELPHIA - A group of Vietnam veterans that is challenging Sen. John Kerry's claims of heroic war service says it received a flood of donations in recent days after advertising its contentions on television in three states.

The group, Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, said it hoped to use the money to monitor Kerry's campaign travels and run ads in cities where he appears.

"That's our goal," said John E. O'Neill, a Houston attorney who's one of the group's leaders and co-author of "Unfit to Command," a 251-page book being distributed this week by the conservative Regnery Publishing house. The book quotes Navy veterans as saying Kerry distorted his record as a river boat commander in Vietnam's Mekong Delta in 1968 to 1969.
...
"We are putting together the second ad," said Hoffman, 78, of Richmond, Va. As a Navy captain in 1968 and 1969, Hoffman commanded a unit of 1,650 sailors that included Kerry as a lieutenant....a bunch more crap.....

1. It's time to start going after these guys directly
THEIR war records, business dealings, sex lives, criminal histories and professional records should all be vigorosuly scrutinized.

12. Remember, Freepers were going to pay over $500 ....-
for Alan Keye's sweat stained napkin before Ebay pulled the auction.

The thing is, these not-so-swift boat vets against Kerry have still not registered as a PAC as far as I know. There's already a couple of groups that are trying to get the FEC to come down on them HARD.

3. Maybe someday the Democrats will respond - it's been what 10 days?
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 10:50 PM by Democat
They are going to get millions of dollars and run these ads for the rest of the campaign if we don't make Bush pay.

Bill Clinton said on the Daily Show that the right wing will never stop unless you make them pay for their attacks. You have to hit them back harder than they hit you. That means that Bush has to suffer for these Swift Boat ads. The Democrats have to tie them to Bush and make the American people understand that Bush is trashing veterans.

Kerry has not made them pay, so they will get more aggressive.

Someone in the Democratic Party needs to listen to Bill Clinton and start hitting Bush over these ads.

It is not enough to defend against the Swift Boat Liars, you must go on the offensive against Bush and tie him to the ads.

Until Bush pays, this will not stop.

14. This will be a home run for Kerry
He's waiting for the right time to release his military records.

Once the repugs get a good mouthful of crow, he'll blast them and the whole lying sbvft posse out of the water.

19. Kerry can always say "I was there...Where was George?"
"Where was George?" would be a good crowd chant.

4. Hehe. I hope they put out several of these ads
Pretty soon, the GOP's entire backdoor campaign will be exposed as the fraud that it is, and a national disgrace.

5. Get a list of their names and google them.
Edited on Fri Aug-13-04 11:05 PM by shraby
Find out what they have been up to. Bring it back here to a thread and work on a paper to disseminate.
If O'Neill found them, du can find them and what they have done.

On the order of the Plame thread. The American Judas paper came out of that and 2 Waterman papers.

6. We need new Democrat leadership, period
This "rope-a-dope shit just flat don't work... just ask Al Gore.

I have to endure nearly ALL of my costumers telling me everyday what a flip flopper Kerry is, and now they're saying he lied about his combat service record! That's what they hear, nobody tells them any different, they don't have the time or the interest to check out the facts, and so they just keep repeating Bush ads as though it were fact.

I fear it's probably too late already... sigh

Can you believe this shit?

Kerry is leading, it's definitely not too late. We should win easily, but we need to have a good strategy.

Taking breaks doesn't sound like a great strategy.

9. No it doesn't sound good.
If we are to believe we're in the fight of our lives for this most important election, that isn't a message that resonates with me. Even if he is cutting back, why say so? Is it a "never let them see you sweat" strategy?

10. Have no fear--when Kerry takes a break,
he's working closely with his staff. With half the country to draw from, do you think he has some talented people working for him?

He's going windsurfing tomorrow. Whatever Bush does or says, he's going to be upstaged by the extreme 60 year old guy.

11. One of Kerry's men said he would go on a mission with Kerry, even to Hell
can you imagine anyone saying they would trust their lives to Bush?

http://www.knoxstudio.com/shns/story.cfm?pk=DEMS-VETS-07-26-04&cat=AN

Jim Wasser, a convention delegate from Kankakee, Ill., who served under Kerry, said Kerry "never made a bad command decision" and that he "knows what it's like to be in harm's way."

Wasser was one of 11 men who served under Kerry attending the veterans' rally. All, he said, would be willing to serve under him again.

"If he came up to us and said we had one last swift boat mission and we were going to hell, he'd have a full crew," Wasser said.

17. Any veteran who challenges Bush will be trashed.
Bob Kerrey and McCain were the first to criticize Bush's service and Awol and they were both dumped on. And let's not forget what the right wiingers did to Cleland
