DVDs hit the campaign trail hard
USA TODAY

As the presidential race enters its final stretch — and with the Republican convention less than a month away — DVD suppliers are turning up the heat on all things political.

The biggest political movie of the year, Michael Moore's Bush- bashing Fahrenheit 9/11, finally has a firm DVD date: Oct. 5. ..

Lateline (Aug. 17, Paramount). The disc has Season 1 of Al Franken's spoof of Nightline, which aired on NBC. Paramount is touting a cameo by Democratic presidential hopeful John Kerry. "He's the only presidential candidate to ever appear in a sitcom," says Paramount's Martin Blythe. "And he's good." ..

TheHunting of the President (Sept. 28, 20th Century Fox). The documentary details the alleged right-wing conspiracy to bring down Bill Clinton. ..

Perhaps the biggest sparks will accompany the documentary Horns and Halos (Oct. 5), about the controversy surrounding the notorious 1999 book about Bush called Fortunate Son.

Author James Hatfield claimed that George W. had been arrested for cocaine possession in the early 1970s, but his well-connected dad had hushed up the bust. The book briefly hit the best-seller lists, but lawyers for the future president threatened a lawsuit. When it was revealed that Hatfield had served five years in prison for attempted murder, St. Martin's Press withdrew the book. .. (read on!!!)

1. "Staffers" will be released on Election Day.
Staffers (Nov. 2, Anchor Bay). A 180-minute documentary on the Kerry campaign out on Election Day.

If Kerry wins, people may be interested, but if Kerry loses, that dvd won't sell many copies.

or I could say "Bring em on!" I looking forward to buying some of these DVDS. Although I saw 911 in the theater, I am looking forward to having it at home. The clip of bush sitting there for 7 minutes while the country in under attack would be absolutely funny if it were not so sad that so many Americans, well actually people throughout the world have suffered because America has the "Village Idiot" in charge.
