Hazing High coaches file lawsuits — against their players
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/breaking_news/story/218583p-188019c.html

Four coaches fired in the wake of a sexual assault scandal at a Long Island high school have reportedly filed a $20 million lawsuit against three of the boys involved in the scandal and their parents.

The boys’ acts jeopardized the coaches’ careers and “ruined” their lives, Thomas Liotti, the coaches’ lawyer, told the Long Island paper Newsday.

The suit, filed in the Nassau County Clerk’s office, alleges the boys’ parents should have known their sons were “prone to acts of violence and demonstrated a vicious and dangerous propensity to commit assault and battery upon others.”

Four players on the Mepham High School football team were charged with sexually assaulting teammates at a preseason training camp in Preston Park, Pa., with sticks, golf balls and pine cones.

1. You have got to be kidding!
These coaches weren't in charge of their program?

Who was?

What a crock!

3. Speaking as someone who has worked with H.S. Kids...
In a situation like this - at a training camp away from the school, you cannot be around to supervise the kids the entire time. I'm sure the sleeping arrangements didn't put the coaches in the same place as the kids. I've had some students pull some stupid stuff on trips and I didn't find out till we were back home. It's infuriating, but impossible to prevent 100% of the time.

6. Then why not arrange for the Coaches to bunk in the same area
as the kids? One in each dorm/hall would go a long way, right?

4. Oh oh everyone will be getting "Trial Lawyers"
Oh the horror of it all. These kids do need a bit of come-up-pence. The coaches are where the buck stops but the boys and their parents should not get off scott free. (Is that an ethnic slur?) Scott Free

5. There is enough
responsibility to spread around here.

Number 1 The BOYS should not have assaulted anyone, period.

Number 2 The coaches should have been more aware of what was going on. (Yes I know, teens are very secretive, all the more reason to keep a close watch.)

Number 3 The parents. Did no one try to instill a since of right and wrong, the idea of consequences? How about just plan old "Keep your hands to yourself, or be kind to others?"
