Organized Labor may be backing away from Davis
"Labor Leaders who have been Gov. Gray Davis' staunchest allies are having reservations about his ability to survive a recall election and will consider their options at an Aug. 26 convention that could decide his fate...Miguel Contreras, executive secretary of the 800,000 Los Angeles federation, said labor officials are awaiting results of their latest polling. 'But if the polling comes back and says (Davis) is hopeless, then we have to figure out if our resources would be best spent promoting a candidate,' Contreras said."

If this happens they would most likely back Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante.

1. Yep the real story is viability. We just got over a costly election
and now we are up against millionaires with unlimited funds. And people wonder why Davis HAD to fundraise.

2. could the media circus be making it "hopeless"?
Gee, I wonder if all the talk on every single channel about Arnold being the next governor has anything at all to do with the feeling of hopelessness about Davis keeping his job.

Every channel I flip thru acts as if the recall vote has already been taken and Davis is out.

would be nice if an occasional "fair and balanced" report would remind viewers that Part 1 of the Ballot has to pass before Part 2 has any relevance whatsoever.

8. Complete state walkout
Shut it down. We now have the northeast with a power failure, another wonderous deregulation success story.

Make the people listen to the truth. A walkout is rash, but it may be the only way.
