India rejects Musharraf's proposal of ceasefire

TIMES NEWS NETWORK< TUESDAY, AUGUST 12, 2003 07:54:11 PM >

NEW DELHI: India on Tuesday rejected Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf's call for ceasefire on Line of Control and inside Kashmir as "propagandist".

Official spokesperson of ministry of external affairs ministry Navtej Sarna said, "There is nothing new in these suggestions."

"Instead of propagandist statements, Pakistan should take effective and long-term oriented measures to dismantle the infrastructure of support to terrorism," he said.

Musharraf had proposed to a visiting Indian team of parliamentarians and journalists that he would "facilitate" a truce in Jammu and Kashmir if India stopped "atrocities" in the state.
