Three U.S. Soldiers Die in Separate Engagements

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - Three U.S. soldiers were killed and two others were injured in separate engagements in Iraq, the military said Monday.

Two of the soldiers were killed Sunday near the holy city of Kufa, where insurgents loyal to the radical cleric Motqada al-Sadr have clashed with U.S. troops.

One soldier died when attackers ambushed a patrol while the other was killed when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his tank.

Meanwhile, one soldier died and two others were injured Sunday when they hit a roadside bomb south of Baghdad, the military reported. The injured soldiers were evacuated to a combat hospital.

6. I knew the tanker.
His grandmother called me early this morning with the news. I'm just sick.

His unit was supposed to rotate out several weeks ago, but got extended for three months for this troop rotation. He was really looking forward to getting out and going back to school.

His and so many other young lives wasted. And for what?

Godspeed, Nick.

8. I don't see how the military can still recruit people!

They say their numbers are up but I don't believe it
for a minute.

The morale must be really low amongst the troops.
Here we're having a 'holiday' and they're dying and
getting injured.

Most importantly, they don't have much control over
their destiny -- they've got to do what Bush says.

Now that's depressing!

Adding more troops as Kerry has promised is not the
answer either. Iraq will have "full sovereignty"
after June 30 and we're to believe the Iraqis will
endorse 40,000 more US troops coming to their country?

Where are we getting the money for all of these military
bases, invasions, and occupations?

No Draft!
No Bush!
No War!

The troops must to come home NOW!

9. The military has adjusted their recruiting goals downward....
...to make it look like they're having no problems with recruiting.
