Luo Da-you (???), a pop singer well known for his political commentary, yesterday formally relinquished his US citizenship to protest the introduction to the US House of Representatives last week of a resolution regarding the deployment of Taiwanese marines to Iraq.

"This is not a rash decision made in the heat of the moment. This is a personal decision that I have made as a musician whose profession is to freely compose music," Luo said, warning others not to follow suit.

Luo arrived at the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT) yesterday morning and spent more than an hour completing the procedure to give up his US citizenship. The application now awaits approval from the US Department of State.

Reading from a statement, Luo said that he was grateful that his US passport had allowed him to freely travel the world.

"However, when US representatives introduced a resolution requesting that Taiwan send marines to Iraq, I realized that while the US often stresses peaceful negotiations across the Taiwan Strait, the US government is the third party that stands in the way of truly peaceful negotiation," Luo said.

4. Look Inside your passport
It gives you the procedures. It is quite simpel actually. I would not do it if I were you though....Try being an expatriate somewhere first for a bit. I would love to be an expatriate, not out of spite for my country, but because I am an obsessed world traveler who will be getting a job soon and would like to do it while keeping my travel interests alive.

From: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/refugees/resettle-2.html
Convention Refugees Abroad Class

The Convention Refugee Abroad class includes people who are outside their country of citizenship or habitual residence. Refugees in this class have a well-founded fear of persecution for reasons of:

* race;
* religion;
* political opinion;
* nationality; or
* membership in a particular social group.

Individuals selected under this class are eligible for government assistance or may be privately sponsored

3 out of 5 isn't bad.

word and I shouldn't have used it because I'm sure that he is a very intelligent person and just cause I disagree with someone it's not right insult their intelligence. I will say though that it was a self-centered decision because every person who hates this regime is needed for their vote, JMO of course.
