Bush Anticipates Selection in Next Two Weeks of Iraqi Government's Leaders
By Scott Lindlaw
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush said Wednesday he anticipates the selection in the next two weeks of the president and top ministers of the Iraqi government that is to gain power on June 30.<snip>

"I anticipate in the next couple of weeks, decisions will be made toward who will be the president and the vice presidents, as well as the prime minister and other ministers (note to reader -Eleven Iraqi ministries are now run by Iraqi citizens - and Bush is quite proud of this)," Bush told reporters at the end of a Cabinet meeting. <snip>

Bush said he had briefed the Cabinet on plans by U.N. envoy Lakhdar Brahimi to give that government shape.

The president also said Secretary of State Colin Powell is in the process of consulting with U.N. Security Council members on a resolution that "will embrace the new interim government and the need to provide security so that free elections will happen as promised to the Iraqi people." <snip>

16. "Waiting for Diem"
Act One:

A country road. A tree.

Evening.

Estragon, sitting on a low mound, is trying to take off his boot. He pulls at it with both hands, panting. He gives up, exhausted, rests, tries again.
As before.
Enter Vladimir.

ESTRAGON: (giving up again). Nothing to be done.

VLADIMIR:
(advancing with short, stiff strides, legs wide apart). I'm beginning to come round to that opinion. All my life I've tried to put it from me, saying Vladimir, be reasonable, you haven't yet tried everything. And I resumed the struggle. (He broods, musing on the struggle. Turning to Estragon.) So there you are again.

"selection in the next two weeks of the president and top ministers of the Iraqi government"

14. "decisions will be made..."
"...toward who will be the president and the vice presidents"

'Decisions will be made'?

By whom? Will these 'decisions' make themselves?

Is the point of all this passive voice construction to avoid responsibility? I think so...
