Darby rejects 2 candidates backing 'objective origins'

Associated Press

Voters in Darby have rejected two school board candidates, including one incumbent, who had supported a controversial science policy known as "objective origins." Meanwhile, voters in school districts across the state turned out Tuesday to decide mill levy increases, with most of the requests being approved.

In Darby, controversy surrounding the school board's adoption of a policy that emphasizes the teaching of "objective origins" theories figured prominently in the school board election. The board in February approved the new policy, which critics say is nothing more than creationism.

Voters on Tuesday swept board chairwoman Gina Schallenberger, a supporter of the policy, from office, replacing her with Erik Abrahamsen, who campaigned against teaching objective origins theories.

1. Gee Whiz, time to break out the old thesaurus again.
No sooner do the lying fundies come up with a new euphemism for creationism, everyone's onto their ploy.

2. "objective origins" was just official name for policy
But it was a very heavy-handed push for creationism only, and was not a stealthy move or secret at all.

3. ah yes... back to the dark ages

4. This is a very real, major push by the fundies throughout the West.
Glad to see they took a hit on this one.
