Four U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Attacks

Four U.S. Soldiers Killed in Iraq Attacks
Sun May 2, 2004 04:58 AM ET

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - Four U.S. soldiers and two members of the Iraqi security forces were killed in separate insurgent attacks in Baghdad and near the southern city of Amara, a senior military official said Sunday.

The deaths take to 545 the number of U.S. troops killed since the U.S. invasion of Iraq to topple Saddam Hussein. More U.S. soldiers were killed during the month of April than during the three-week war that ousted Saddam.

In the latest attacks, two U.S. soldiers and two members of the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps were killed early Sunday in northwest Baghdad, the official said.

Two more U.S. troops were killed near Amara Saturday when their convoy came under fire from small arms and a rocket-propelled grenade.

11. Thank you, Saigon, for pulling that all together in one place.
I've been looking for a few of those quotes. Also, a little dark humor thrown in there. :evilfrown:

BTW, Gen. Meyers is on Face the Nation now - talking about the torture photos - describing it as "alleged..uh...<pause>....<pause>....<pause>...behavior". Shit! :puke:

12. Got to Wonder...
...about any "leader" that must wear a bulletproof vest while surrounded by ex-special ops goons 12 months after we've supposedly liberated Iraq.

Another sign that we're knee-deep in a Class-A Cluster Fk.

5. some day we will know the truth
Brain-dead bodies on life-support sent home as "injured." Civilian contractors not added to the list of dead. One day we will find out the real death toll in Iraq. And we will react with horror.

15. An Iraqi man beats with his shoe
I thought that I read somewhere early in the invasion that showing the bottom of the shoe was a gesture of defiance and disgust in Iraq. Does anybody else remember that? This guy sure does not look like he is "beating a smoldering military truck." And why would he do that, anyway? Would it be like punching a pillow when you are mad?

13. WTF??
where did they come up with 545? this shit is pissing me off. bush and his minions need to be held accountable for this. i am also tired of people at my job being in denial and acting like all is peachy in iraq. man, when the hell are people going to wake up. clinton got so much flack for somalia and look at how many soldiers have died in iraq. this all doesn't make sense anymore. the administration is getting away with so much crap. how can this be when it is so evident that bush fucked up?
