Feds in Dark About Some Drinking Water Problems.
Source: nyt/ap

When contaminants in a public water system exceed safe drinking water standards, federal environmental officials may not know about it.

An investigation requested by Congress and released Tuesday found that 14 states failed to tell — or inaccurately reported — hundreds of violations at public water systems to the Environmental Protection Agency in 2009. Those states also misreported most violations of monitoring requirements.

3. Thank you for your post and all the informative links that
Are required to understand what the fracking is doing to the aquifers and local wells where natural gas drilling is polluting the water.

other big problem - the 2005 Big Oil and Natural Gas legislation that Cheney/Bush enacted (and that Obama Administration doesn't seem interested in overturning) allows any and all damage to major and minor water systems to occur without any penalty to the firms causing the damage.

5. I believe this is about testing of public water supplies, towns, cities
and not private wells being contaminated with natural gas from fracking. Fracking is bad, but it is not relevent to this particular story.

2. Meanwhile the GOP are trying to slash funding by $134 million to the program to help states comply..
with EPA regulations.

Considering an estimated 11 million illnesses per year come in the US are a result of contaminated drinking water, how is this representing the better interest of their constituents?
