Romney draws early fire from conservatives over views on climate change
Source: The Washington Post

It seemed like a straightforward question on a second-tier issue: Would Mitt Romney disavow the science behind global warming?

The putative Republican presidential front-runner, eager to prove his conservative bona fides, could easily have said what he knew many in his party’s base wanted to hear.

Instead, the former Massachusetts governor stuck to the position he has held for many years — that he believes the world is getting warmer and that humans are contributing to that pattern.

1. This is one of the things about Mitt that is reasonable.
But the GOP doesn't want to hear it, so they'll tear him apart over it because it is a "liberal" opinion.

2. Science is heresy to rethugs
Climate change, evolution, stem-cells, etc - the list goes on and on. Rethugs and science don't play well together

..I think they should embrace and promote stuff from BEFORE science gave us progress. Maybe shun modern medicine - go back to the days of bloodletting and snake oil potions.

3. Only thing to get them to change their mind
If they could MAKE MONEY off of global warming, then they would be all for it. Er, admitting that it exists, that is.

5. They can... There is HUGE money to be made but they have previous commitments.
They swore their allegiance to Big Oil... They can not go back on that now no matter how much new money is involved..

8. I agree, the growing development and use of renewable, sustainable energy sources
will create all sorts of opportunities both on the macro and micro levels.
