When the call of nature comes, it cannot always be denied. Few have answered it in such an unfortunate fashion as Alois Mabhunu.

While on duty at a trade fair, the Zimbabwean police sergeant could not hold on and allegedly dashed to the nearest toilet – disastrously, it transpired, as it was reserved for President Robert Mugabe.

He was arrested and imprisoned on suspicion of invading the presidential privy.

The incident happened at the annual Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) in the western city of Bulawayo, according to local radio station VOP.

32. This is a prime example of what I call mirror-image-ism

People like Bush and Blair, like Reagan and Thatcher before them, assumed that the world is divided into the Good Guys and the Axis of Evil. 'You are either with us or against us', and viciously oppressive dictators were OK so long as they were on 'our side'. People who opposed these dictators were clearly pro-terrorism and against Freedom.

There is a mirror-image viewpoint which is startlingly similar. It assumes that American and its allies, or sometimes the West in general, are an Axis of Evil, and that anyone opposed to them, even a viciously oppressive dictator, must be a decent person, and those opposed to such dictators must be Bush-lovers, racists, warmongers, or in the pay of such.

There is no Axis of Evil, but there are plenty of nasty dictators on all sides, and we shouldn't be supporting them either because they're allies or opponents of America or Britain.

And there are many black people in Zimbabwe in opposition to Mugabe.
