Bush says he doesn't plan to lose his job
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N13518172.htm

WASHINGTON, April 13 (Reuters) - President George W. Bush said on Tuesday he is not worried voters will choose to oust him in the November election and said he believed Americans would stand behind him on Iraq despite rising bloodshed.

Asked in a news conference if he would see the Iraq war as worthwhile even if he lost his job because of it, Bush replied, "I don't plan on losing my job."

"I believe they will stay with me," the president said of American voters.

So far more than 670 U.S. troops have died in the Iraq conflict. Between 4,000 and 6,000 Iraqi military have died and between 8,000 and 10,000 civilians have lost their lives.

He "thinks" everyone in the military is "on board". I don't believe it. He shows no compassion whatsoever. None. Not his fault, he can barely show his intelligence which is non-existent. Most of you might not recall, but Texas, until the past decade, had a proud history of being liberal.

I am a liberal, and damned proud of it! My mother and father were proud liberals. My grandmother and grandfather were proud liberals. And my daughter is a proud liberal.

George Dubya isn't worthy of being a Texan.

12. That being the only question that he kindof sortof answered
He beat around the bush (no pun intended) throughout the whole thing. Didn't answer ANY questions at all. Those so-called journalists never pressed him on any of it. The whole thing was a joke, especially towards the end when he got all flustered about being asked if he made any mistakes and he read out "do not call on anyone who yells" and before that he was mumbling about his must-call list.

What a sorry excuse for a human being... not that I think he is human proof being his tongue flicking out at the end of every sentence. He is one of the lizards from that old sci-fi series V come to take over the earth.

36. Doesn't plan to lose his job - innocent interpretation, it was bombast
Edited on Tue Apr-13-04 11:20 PM by daleo
But at least a couple of more sinister interpretations stand out
- election fixing.
- call off the election, due to an emergency.

He may also be so deluded and full of hubris that he just can't imagine being rejected on that scale. He should ask Poppy about that one.

Still, his comment that he knew he couldn't lose Florida in 2000, because his brother said so, has frightening implications. Scalia and Cheney's little hunting trip doesn't help us cynics, either.

On edit - let's not forget the "watch me pull an Ossama rabbit out of my hat", come late October.

42. One thing that is comforting...
(i truly believe)is that a few minutes into the Q&A... even the "easy Americans" didn't buy it. It was very easy to cheer on GWuckYa when 9/11 occurred and plastic flags were only 3.99 at wal-mart but the lowest common denominator of America is waking up! I have no allegiance to my home town and I come from a small family (non-nuclear included) so I have no ties to the war... but each smirk, horribly and unbelievably f*cking callous statement as short as two words like "dead people (aka Americans,") or final 15 minutes of misery that Yep! hes "our" President... made me short of breath for the thousands or more ppl who looked for hope or an answer.. and what they had to see was a buffoon that was scared and hoping this 30 minutes of his term would go away quick. It became very fucking sad.

btw, i finally registered, have been lurking for 1 1/2 years... thanks for listening... the beginning is near! xoxo - patalicat

58. Well, He Must Not Read The Paper Very Often...(wait!)
HUME: How do you get your news?

BUSH: I get briefed by Andy Card and Condi in the morning. They come in and tell me. In all due respect, you've got a beautiful face and everything.

I glance at the headlines just to kind of a flavor for what's moving. I rarely read the stories, and get briefed by people who are probably read the news themselves. But like Condoleezza, in her case, the national security adviser is getting her news directly from the participants on the world stage.

HUME: Has that been your practice since day one, or is that a practice that you've...

BUSH: Practice since day one.

HUME: Really?

BUSH: Yes. You know, look, I have great respect for the media. I mean, our society is a good, solid democracy because of a good, solid media. But I also understand that a lot of times there's opinions mixed in with news. And I...

HUME: I won't disagree with that, sir.

BUSH: I appreciate people's opinions, but I'm more interested in news. And the best way to get the news is from objective sources. And the most objective sources I have are people on my staff who tell me what's happening in the world.

65. He's trying to sound confident.
But the idiot doesn't realize that he comes across as arrogant. All he had to say was something like "I hope the people will re-elect me another term to stand behind me on Iraq despite the bloodshed but if I am not re-elected, I would respect that wish".

That's all he had to say. But I guess he's not smart enough to think of a thoughtful response.

72. I agree.
I think he's trying to show confidence, and of course he will saw he does not plan to be voted out.

I agree with you...it's how he said it that made it sound arrogant, and makes people think that he knows some fix is in.

66. We should ALL be concerned and think what will we do when they steal it
again.

Things like this convince me they KNOW damned well that they are starting out with a 10% Lead, like a Phony Freeped Pravda Internet Poll.

Interesting to feel these amounts of fear and rage together...

69. We all think that until we get let go.
Especially the most naive (aka Emperor C-Plus Augustus).

71. As a leader of this Nation, his priority is US, our safety as well as our
comfort.

He thinks only for himself and how to be reselected. Utterly selfish and arrogant to boot.

Took the warnings and left for the Ranch, gimme a break. Never bothered to tell America shit was INCOMING.

70. Must not be planning on an election
...the exigencies we're facing as a nation at this time are unfortunately so severe as to make any transition of government an unacceptably dangerous venture at this time, so we have regrettably been forced to suspend the elections indefinitely..."
something like that.
