Indiana School Shooting Injures One, Student in Custody

Shots rang out at an Indiana middle school this morning injuring a 15-year-old boy and ending with another 15-year-old student in handcuffs.

The shooting occurred in the vestibule of Martinsville West Middle School around 7 a.m. ET 20 minutes before classes begin.

The wounded teen suffered two shots to his abdomen and is in stable condition at Methodist Hospital, ABC News affiliate WRTV reported.

Indiana State Police Sgt. Dave Bursten told WRTV that there is no danger to the public, but all schools in the district are on lockdown as a precaution.

2. Shooter was suspended a couple of days before the shooting...

according to the article. No one has any idea why he did the shooting. Same student had a fight at a dance two weeks prior...dunno if that was why he was suspended. Hmmm...no one in authority has a clue? Wow.

Well, I guess since he was suspended, he shouldn't have been on school grounds, but arrested? Maybe issued a citation for trespass. Arrested just doesn't make any sense for such a minor violation.

6. Wrote "Today is the Day" on Facebook

A teenager who wrote on Facebook "today is the day" allegedly shot another student at an Indiana middle school today.

Police are withholding the alleged gunman's name until he is formally charged, but WRTV reports that on his Facebook page the suspect wrote, "Today is the day." He also wrote, "You will hear about it."

"I've never seen him get in this much trouble before," Shue said. "He's just your average teenager. He has fun with his friends. He'll hang out around town."

On March 22, school administrators sent a phone message to all parents warning of a threat that had been made to the high school. It is unclear if the threat made to the high school is at all related to the shooting at the middle school or if the student involved in the shooting made the threat.
