MINNEAPOLIS — Crews are responding to the scene of a fiery explosion in south Minneapolis and authorities are urging residents to evacuate the area.

Rebecca Virden, a spokeswoman for CenterPoint Energy, tells KSTP-TV it is too soon to know what caused the explosion early Thursday or what is on fire.

1. Well, that would explain why a fire engine just went screaming down my street.
I live only a couple of miles from there, but how do I find out? On DU quoting the Seattle Times. Strange world.

3. Prolly a gas-related thing
There's a gas facility located in that area, which I know well. I could see the smoke from my 16th floor vantage point in downtown Mpls, but things have quieted down, apparently. LAtest word is that it blew a hole in the street.
