Hundreds of extra police called to Madison
Source: Wisconsin State Journal

Hundreds of law enforcement officers from across Wisconsin have been sent to Madison to assist with security at the State Capitol.

Some 600 officers were lining the halls of the Capitol Tuesday morning to provide extra security as the Assembly and Senate prepared to begin sessions.

Officers from dozens of law enforcement agencies filled the Capitol, watching over the protesters and blocking some areas. It's the heaviest security presence seen yet over more than a week

A Dane County Sheriff's deputy said 60 to 65 law enforcement officers from that agency were present.

7. They follow orders
I am hard pressed to find a single instance in U.S. history where the police sided with labor in labor disputes. Someone will provoke an incident, either an agent provocateur in police pay, or the police will simply use the usual "I though he had a gun" excuse.

This is an old pattern...

As Ghandi said, first they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then you win.

The ignoring and ridiculing parts have been pretty brief in Madison.

8. True, but Ghandi was fighting
an empire, not corporations. This country is no longer run by government, but by corporations. Citizens United made it all nice and legal.

Remember, corporations run the prison system, so more prisoners mean more profits.

11. I think a Raj-like state is where we'll be in short order
if we lose this war.

We should be well motivated.

12. hell, as I was telling my wife over breakfast this morning...
...while reminiscing about Madison back in the 60s: I'm an old man now, and unwell: if I knew a martyr for the movement might really tip the balance, I'd volunteer (just make it quick, please). Compared to the massive effort needed to be sustained now throughout all the coming year before King Scott can be deposed, taking a bullet seems easy!
