ACAPULCO, Mexico — Four men with their hands and feet tied and heads covered in duct tape were thrown 600 feet to their deaths from a bridge Friday, authorities said as Mexico's increasingly bloody drug battles reached a new level of cruelty and intimidation.

The four were among 12 people slain Friday in Guerrero, which has seen a spike in violence since rival factions of the Beltran Leyva cartel began fighting over territory after leader Arturo Beltran Leyva died in a battle with Mexican marines in December 2009. The other eight were killed in the resort city of Acapulco.

The unidentified men were dropped from a 600-feet-high (200-meter) bridge near the Guerrero state capital of Chilpancingo, the Guerrero state Public Safety Department said.

5. Not till the US legalizes drugs
The only way to stop this violence is to take the criminal element out of drug by legalizing them and dropping the price to near nothing.

6. Why are so many Americans into drugs?

There is no doubt that partaking on and getting hooked on drugs leads to bad things. I've seen it first hand.

I frankly blame some of it on Hollywood and a lot on the expansion of poverty. Hollywood in collusion with the tobacco industry played a big part in making smoking cool in the earlier days. Much of the rap music involves drug influences.

They are experts at propagandizing and manipulating the public through advertising, entertainment and movies, etc and you would think that they could create an environment to make drugs uncool and reduce demand.

7. I have seen it first hand, too. My ex-son-law
chose drugs over his kids. Even after spending a year in jail - still does drugs.

3. Dammit
Juniors and Seniors at my wifes Highschool have a mission trip planned for Mexico in May. I think we need to look somewhere else. These drug gangs are savages.
