Donald Rumsfeld book admits 'misstatements' over WMD sites
Source: The Guardian

The former US defence secretary, Donald Rumsfeld, admits in his memoirs that he made a mistake in claiming that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction sites round Baghdad and Tikrit, one of the main justifications for launching the Iraq invasion.

Rumsfeld says now: "I made a misstatement." What he meant to say is there were 'suspect sites'.

The incident is one of many in the 815-page autobiography, Known and Unknown, in which he seeks to revise the history of the Bush administration on issues ranging from Iraq to the Guantánamo detention centre.

Rumsfeld is one of the most controversial figures of the Bush era and his autobiography has long been awaited. The Guardian obtained an advance copy.

Someone, somewhere, is probably tasked with cross-referencing all the lies in Bush's book against all the lies in Rumsfeld's book (and everyone else's) to see which lies they all agree on.

Those are the things they're really lying about.

Edit: To continue: There are plenty of reasons to hire some guy to do that, but one interesting reason that comes to mind is this: there is a trillion dollars missing, including millions and millions in cash. Identifying which lies Rice, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz, Cheney and Bush all agree on can offer a point from which a thread of truth can be extracted, and one or more of those threads might lead to some or all of that money, which of course is completely off the books and tax free for the person crazy enough to think it can be taken away from the most evil people on earth.
