Pistole the latest official to send mixed messages
Source: Washington Post

Obama administration officials spent the weekend sharing different comments on airport security, the latest example of the president and Cabinet secretaries sending mixed messages on policy or politics to the American public.

John S. Pistole, head of Transportation Security Administration acknowledged Sunday that his agency's new screening procedures are "invasive" and "uncomfortable" but told CNN that the agency would not change its policy.

Hours later, he back-pedaled, saying in a statement that screening should be as minimally invasive as possible and that TSA is constantly evaluating and adapting security measures.

Why the change? Well, souring public opinion had something to do with it (did you see the devastating "Saturday Night Live" sketch about TSA?).

1. How about turning in his resignation effective immediately and end the theatre
and move it to Israeli-style security screening. That is the least invasive method, and yet can make you feel secure that there are people doing their jobs instead of fondling/molesting/raping/nudeoscoping the fuck out of everyone and their grandmothers.

Israel: Keeping travelers safe since 1948.

2. I would consider that a delaying tactic
which he hopes will last long enough for us to forget it. I can't speak for anyone else, but that ain't gonna happen in my house.

4. I wonder how many "heck -of-a-job-Brownie" Bush appointees are

7. It's a question.
But he's not one of them.

(Actually, I've seen a pretty good list of them and it's not real long. "Burrow" has a specific meaning in this context and the political appointees how got their jobs converted to career weren't all that numerous. I think it was about the same number as under Clinton, but don't hold me to that.)

8. I'm thinking that if you come into an agency and the people
who've been there tell you something that just ain't so, you might have a hard time knowing that.
