Arizona Prison Escapee Is Captured
Source: New York Times

A convicted killer from an Arizona prison was captured Monday in Park County, Wyo., as a hunt continued for another escapee and his suspected accomplice.

The convict, Tracy Province, 42, was arrested at 6:20 a.m., in Meeteetse, Wyo., by federal marshals from Montana and members of the Yellowstone County Sheriff’s Department.

The authorities said they received a tip from a local resident who observed Mr. Province sitting on church steps in town. When he was arrested, he was carrying a hitchhiking sign with “Casper” — assumed to be Wyoming — written on it. He also had a handgun, the authorities said. According to the federal marshals’ office, after the arrest Mr. Province said he was relieved it was over.

1. Damn. I'm glad no motorist picked him up.
This is why I DO NOT pick up hitchhikers. Ever.

2. Yesterday he was singing with the choir in Meeteetse.

On Sunday, Province walked into Meeteetse Community Church, about 60 miles outside of Yellowstone, wearing blue jeans, a blue checkered flannel shirt, and a camouflage backpack slung over one shoulder, worshipper Jay Curtis said. Province looked like the many hitchhikers who pass through town.

"Just shook his hand and said 'Welcome, welcome to our church,'" said Curtis, a member of the church band. "He just smiled and said: 'Thank you.'"

Province closed his eyes and sang along with the band and seemed particularly engrossed when the band played "Your Grace is Enough" by Chris Tomlin, Curtis said.
