Bush called 'President Shrub' in government memo
Winnipeg — Saskatchewan's government has tried everything to get the U.S. border opened to its beef: pleading, cajoling and even threatening a ban on foreign beef.

Now a researcher for the ruling New Democratic Party has resorted to name-calling, in a memo that described U.S. President George W. Bush as "Shrub."

Titled, "Re: petition to President Shrub," the bulletin on NDP caucus letterhead was distributed this week to members of the legislature, candidates for Saskatchewan's coming election and MPs in Ottawa. Media outlets received the memo by mistake.

19. ooh, wait until he finds out that Saskatchewan ...
... elected the first socialist government in North America. (This was after WWII -- the new premier, Tommy Douglas, introduced Medicare. The plan was later copied by the feds, who were afraid that the NDP would become so popular they'd end up running the country!)

I am convinced that the only reason the US military didn't march into Regina during the McCarthy era was because they couldn't find it on a map.

3. CALL HIM THE CHIMPANZEE
Since he has a stiking resemblance visual to this simian species; and also is closely aligned intellectually, to the somewhat inferior anthropod.

8. What, may I ask, was wrong with it?

"We were just appalled," said Elwin Hermanson, leader of the opposition Saskatchewan Party, who received the bulletin yesterday. "On the stupid meter, this seems to go off the scale."
The memo encourages recipients to distribute copies of a petition that Premier Lorne Calvert launched on Tuesday as a protest against the U.S. beef ban. It explains the shrubbery reference as a "dismissive nickname for President Bush."
The government distanced itself from the memo, promising a review of how it got drafted and whether there should be disciplinary action against the caucus staffer who wrote it.

Disciplanary action? When the identity of the caucus staffer is revealed, he should be given a medal.

We aren't talking about the President of the United States here. We are talking about a loser, a corporate thief, a war criminal, a rich snob who does a poor job of masqerading as a common man, a fool who would arrogate for himself the powers of an emperor.

Shrub is too kind. He is worthy of no respect. I respect those who give him none.

13. Hmm...
"On the stupid meter, this seems to go off the scale...."

Sorry, Hermanson. You're just a-pointin' that thing in the wrong direction!

I agree with Jack Rabbit. I think when the caucus staffer is identified, we'd BETTER get a DU flower-sending fund/campaign going, pronto!

10. Something else for Celucci to rant about now
Sheesh!

I just got back from a vacation in Canada. I refused to drive up there without a bumper sticker for my Presidential candidate firmly attached to the car. No way I wanted anyone to think I supported the Boy George.

because her work was used in a printed document without citation. Didn't she coin the term "shrub" in reference to George W. Bush?

17. LOL! * would never even find Saskatchewan!
This was a provincial employee, so not much will get done about it.

I think the best way to get * back is to send him a list of the names we usually call him. "Schrub" is pretty mild.

We Canadians are pretty laid-back, tolerent folks - but absolutely can't abide stupidity.
