Prop. 8 forces target 18,000 same-sex marriages
Source: San Francisco Chronicle

As the trial over California's prohibition on same-sex marriage enters its final stage Wednesday, the ban's sponsors are urging the judge to go a step further and revoke state recognition of the marriages of 18,000 gay and lesbian couples who wed before voters passed Proposition 8.

Such an order would honor "the expressed will of the people," backers of the November 2008 ballot measure said Tuesday in their final written filing before Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker.

Andrew Pugno, an attorney for Prop. 8's backers, said in an interview that the sponsors aren't asking Walker to nullify the 18,000 marriages, but only to rule that government agencies, courts and businesses no longer have to recognize the couples as married.

1. The Prop 8 backers really are evil, aren't they?
Why don't they just move to Saudi Arabia? (Or Utah?)

4. We know one of those couples...
Both professionals.. together 35 years....

They proudly showed us their wedding album.

The dogmatic motherfuckers who would tear that union asunder have no souls!

7. It's overreaching
It defeats their purpose. It shows them to be the hateful assholes they are, and helps the court see who's on the side of the angels.

8. It's okay to Boycott AZ
but, no one is really boycotting CA for this it seems. CA residents got to vote on their evil Prop 8, AZ didn't vote for their crappy H8 Bill. Well, I am personally boycotting CA. I will not be attending Gay Days at Disneyland this year. I have also stopped visiting my family that lives there too. (of course, most of them voted for this evil Prop anyway)

9. No one's human rights/civil rights/any rights should be limited by a proposition--!!
The only impact on any of our rights should be to expand them --

10. You know what Prop 8 supporters pushing this BS: I H8TE Y'ALL!
Why not do something about all the screwed-up marriages (gay OR straight) in America rather than scapegoating just the gay couples?

I mean look at all the unfaithful spouses in America ranging from one of your friends to Tiger Woods.

And the numerous failed Hollywood marriages such as that of reality TV stars Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt.

And the fools who choose to marry after having short relationships. Take the singer Katy Perry, who was dating rapper Travis McCoy in '08 and '09 and then recently got engaged to British comedian Russell Brand late last year! Why can't those who claim to "protect marriage" require more stringent requirements for hetero marriage, such as a minimum period of engagement/dating? Oh yeah, heterosexual couples are ALWAYS inherently superior to those immoral, AIDS-infested, unwilling-to-change homosexuals.

13. Time for pitchforks and torches
I would be quite happy to see every single supporter of prop 8 tarred and feathered and their homes burned. I may be straight, and usually rational, but terrorizing the bastards would be a good start.

14. I was so embarrassed when our state voted prop h8 in.
Somehow I thought we we're more progressive than that, apparently not. I wouldn't be surprised if this judge takes the "further step." So sorry to all affected.

appalling that people can lose their rights just because one side runs a complacent, listless election camapign and loses to millions of dollars poured in from out of state.
