Congressman: White House Job Offer to Sestak May Be an 'Impeachable' Offense
Edited on Wed May-26-10 12:05 AM by TomCADem
Source: Fox News

Rep. Joe Sestak's allegation that the White House offered him a job to drop out of the Pennsylvania Senate primary race against Arlen Specter is a crime that could lead to the impeachment of President Obama, Rep. Darrell Issa said.

But the decision by the Pennsylvania congressman not to elaborate on a so-called deal also could become a political problem as Sestak tries for the U.S. Senate seat.

The White House reportedly is going to formally address the allegation in the next few days. In the meantime, Issa, R-Calif., is one of many inside and outside Washington who want the Democratic Senate primary candidate to explain in detail what offer the White House made.

"It's very clear that allegation is one that everyone from Arlen Spector to Dick Morris has said is in fact a crime, and could be impeachable," said Issa, who is threatening to file an ethics compliant if Sestak doesn't provide more details about the alleged job offer.

Darrell Issa, who is well known for funding the recall of Gray Davis in California, is once again calling for the removal of a top Democratic office holder. Of course, he has the full backing of Fox News, which reports it as news, then recycles it as commentary, then reports it as news. Darrell Issa is also well known for calling for an investigation into the Obama administrations efforts to demand higher fuel efficiency from car companies.

So, expect Republicans in 2010 to mobilize support by running on a not so secret agenda to impeach another Democratic President. These efforts will be powered once again by the corporate media, which ran interference during the Bush years.

3. So, We Can Watch The Corporate Media At Work...
Edited on Tue May-25-10 11:57 PM by TomCADem
And its more powerful than ever before. Before it was Drudge.

Fox News plays the right wing talking points again and again. Then the Tea baggers start repeating these talking points at Fox/Freedom Works coordinated and corporate funded rallies. Then, Fox News asks news why the other corporate media is not covering their corporate concocted controversy regardless of whether it is full of shit like death panels, then through the election season, even the so-called liberal news programs will be dominated by this right wing narrative.

I know we do not want to think that this is the Republicans would dare do this again. They will. Heck, its freakin Darrell Issa for goodness sakes. This is an obsession on his part to impeach or recall Democrats. Screw democracy. Here is Darrell Issa pandering to birthers:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0210/Issa_Obamas_vision_is_foreign.html

Issa: Obama's vision is 'foreign'

As I mentioned Thursday, Hillary Clinton's pollster believed that candidate Obama was vulnerable to the charge that he wasn't "fundamentally American" enough to be president, that his values were too internationalist for the American mainstream, and that he lacked "American roots."

Clinton never made the charge -- Mark Penn wanted her to brand everything she did "American" for contrast -- but there were echoes of it, I thought, in Mitt Romney's speech to CPAC.

Now Rep. Darrell Issa seems to draw on that theme in his prepared remarks for a speech to the conservative gathering Friday:

“I intend to use every resource of my office to make sure that this Administration does not escape serious, thorough, and consistent oversight of its policies, its use of taxpayer money, and its aggressive determination to impose a foreign ideological vision on the people of the United States," he says in his prepared remarks.

GOP: Impeachment by any means necessary.

11. Its Darrell Issa's Passion - Overturning The Election of Democrats
Of course, he now has a powerful partner in Fox News.

Of course, as we all know, California is in far worse position than it was under Gray Davis, who was screwed by Enron and an energy deregulation bill that was passed by Pete Wilson (R).

Darrell Issa would not be effective without the backing of the corporate, right-wing media that gives him millions in in-kind support by giving him a megaphone.

Did any media outlet give Kucinich a similar platform to impeach Bush? Nope.

Nothing will shut them up.

They will, however, cross a line at some point. They will also find out that the electorate jus isn't interested in the bullshit anymore.

19. Yeah, as if..
It looks like issa has already crossed over.

"Darrell Issa's On A Role! Now Complains About Obama Giving Judgeships To Political Allies As Bribes!"

"The Bush administration, of course, appointed torture memo collaborator Bybee to the federal bench, and numerous other political operatives, but that does not keep Darrell Issa from coming up with reasons to launch special investigations of the White House."

Okay, but let's start with a little higher priority, like lying Americans into two wars illegally.

Oh, George, oh, Dick!

Then after these two supreme scumbags are behind bars, we can talk about other stuff. K?

17. Wait. Is offering a congressman a job in your administration always
an impeachable offense. Or is it just an impeachable offense if the person offered the job is running for an office and you support a different candidate running for the office?

I really don't understand that. Because I believe that president's offer members of Congress jobs every once in a while. I can think of a number of instances in which a cabinet position was offered to a member of Congress at a convenient time in terms of an election.

Didn't Obama offer a job to one of the Republican members of Congress, a job that the Congressman refused possibly because the administration of the census wasn't going to be a part of the job? Hillary Clinton was offered the job of Secretary of State. She was a senator at the time. We don't know when the job was offered.

I don't even think this is unusual.

Sestak would make a great Secretary of the Navy. In fact, I can't think of a better qualified candidate for Secretary of the Navy. It is my understanding that was the job that was offered.

I seriously doubt that Obama cared so much about Specter that he would have offered Sestak a job to help Specter. Just does not sound likely to me. Specter is not as good a Democrat as Sestak is. And Sestak is young and will be able to serve a long time. Specter is older and had a bout with cancer. The story is being blown way out of proportion.

It did not seem to bother Issa back then. Of course, Cox then managed to sleepwalk as Maddoff bilked investors out of billions.

20. Silly ass.
I'm just going to point out that he funded the recall because he thought HE had a shot at governor.

Let them spend money on this. "We're going to impeach the president AND make him show his birth certificate."

Bush wasn't impeached for genuine high crimes. Impeachment no longer exists.

The real impeachable offense Obama is guilty of is getting elected president as a democrat. This is just one more reason why these people have to be beaten in November.
