Arkansas Police Identify Men Who Killed 2 Officers
Source: Associated Press (via The New York Times)

Filed at 10:39 p.m. ET

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- An anti-government Ohio man who had several run-ins with police around the U.S. was identified Friday as one of two people who allegedly gunned down two officers during a traffic stop in Arkansas.

Arkansas State Police on Friday identified the pair -- killed during an exchange of gunfire with law enforcement officers -- as Jerry R. Kane Jr., 45, of Forest, Ohio, and his son, Joseph T. Kane, believed to be 16.

About 90 minutes before the shootout Thursday with police, Sgt. Brandon Paudert, 39, and Officer Bill Evans, 38, were killed with AK-47 assault rifles after stopping a minivan on Interstate 40 in West Memphis, Ark., authorities said.

Jerry Kane, who used the Internet to question federal and local governments' authority over him, made money holding debt-elimination seminars around the country.

It's sickening to know that a man used his teenage son to kill police officers. Jerry Kane hated the government so much that he had harsh words to say about his rather minor sentences for driving violations. It runs in the family: Kane's family members were hostile to Associated Press reporters (but maybe not to Fox News or WorldNetDaily reporters). I also found Kane's name and photo on Miami Valley Crime Stoppers' Top 10 Most Wanted list; Kane was wanted for forgery since 2008. And I just started a Wikipedia article about this shooting.

2. Oh, a "Freeman"
Those are the ones involved in that stand-off in Montana back in the 90s. They're the worst of the worst.

That's what pisses me off about these little foxnews census ranters. They have this little smirk and you know it's all a big joke to them. They would pee their pants if they were confronted by one of these freemen, and those are the ones any government worker really has to be afraid of. These are the real nuts and they do not need to be encouraged by these wannabes.

WEST MEMPHIS, AR - New information on the deadly shooting of two West Memphis police officers. Police have identified the suspected shooters as Jerry Kane and his 16-year-old son Joe. The father and son were part of what is considered the patriot movement.

¬snip¬

But video clips show another side of Kane and his distaste for the federal government.

On the video Kane says “What we’re after here is not fighting, it's conquering. I don’t want to have to kill anybody, but if they keep messing with me that’s what it is going to come down to. And if I have to kill one I am not going to be able to stop.”

Kane was pulled over last month in New Mexico for not having a driver’s license. During a radio interview after the traffic stop he said “They are sick in the head. We just have to play their silly ass little games and kill the monster under the bed so to speak.”

5. The scary part
Mark Potok, who directs hate-group research at the Southern Poverty Law Center, said Kane had not been in the group's database before Thursday. But he said that was not surprising, given the ''explosive growth'' in the anti-government movement in recent years. With 363 new groups in 2009, there are now 512, Potok said.

9. true, I wasn't trying to be all inclusive, but Palin
during the campaign made it on the news every night, all channels, making sure the KKKers got the all clear sign to be open about their hatred.
