Democratic feud could cost party Hawaii seat
Obama's birth state could elect first Republican congressman in a decade

HONOLULU - With Democrats refusing to budge in their family feud in a usually Democratic state, Hawaii could elect its first Republican congressman in decades.

The GOP is hoping to celebrate a victory by Charles Djou on Saturday in a special election against two Democrats — one a former congressman himself — who seem to be splitting their party's vote. Not only would that mean the loss of a Democratic seat in Congress, it would be an embarrassment for President Barack Obama, who was born in Hawaii and carried the state with 72 percent of the vote just two years ago.

"I think the people of Hawaii are learning, just as the American people are learning, that we do not have to follow the marching orders of the old boy network and the establishment," Djou said this week in a TV interview. "This congressional campaign is an opportunity for the voters of Hawaii to say we own this seat, not the Democratic Party.".........................

1. It would be weird if both Hawaii and Illinois lose dem seats in Nov. both are considered
Obama's home turf. Chicago may lose Obama's senate seat.

2. You can thank ponytail man Neil Abercrombie for this mess
That egomaniac just HAD to resign mid-term and cause this mess (and deprive Nancy Pelosi of a HCR vote too)

3. Why is everything these days a potential embarrassment for Obama?
If a Republican wins a plurality against two Dem opponents, that means the electorate rejected the Democratic party?

The media really grates on me...

their constant predictions of a "referendum" can have the appearance of truth. Repubtards just had some upsets that, IMO, are not getting their fair share of unfavorable stories towards McTurtles bad leadership.

6. The Dems will lose in the special election but will win it back in November.
Temporary victory for the assclown party.

9. This is the important takeaway from this story
This isn't a big deal. It's a house seat, not a senate seat, and the democrats will take it back in November.

8. Oh God
I live in the 1st district of Honolulu - the one that is mentioned in the article - and yes, the Republican Charles Djou might win, but we will win the seat back in November.

Ed Case shouldn't be representing Hawaii in the US Congress. Although Colleen Hanabusa isn't the best either, I'd choose her of Ed Case any day.
