Bachmann says Pelosi wanted to 'incite' Tea Partiers
Source: The Hill

Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) wanted to "incite something" when she led Democratic lawmakers through a Tea Party protest on the day healthcare was passed, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) said last night.

Democrats have claimed that Tea Partiers shouted the "n" word at black lawmakers as they made their way across the street before the vote. Conservatives, including Bachmann, have said Democrats are fabricating that incident.

...

"In three years I have never seen Nancy Pelosi cross the street, the way that you saw in that picture," Bachmann told Sean Hannity. "They deliberately went through that crowd perhaps to try and incite something."

Bachmann said the Democrats were "slandering" Tea Partiers by calling them racist.

"It is a smear technique, but now it is beyond smearing people this is actually out and out slandering people," she said. "Again, 30,000 freedom loving people, they were picking up their own litter afterwards. These were the nicest people you would ever want to meet, happy people. I think there's been a prearranged caricature that is being written, whether it is from the White House, whether it is from the -- I don't know where coming from."

4. It's different in other countries, but in the US, truth is an absolute
defense against an accusation of slander. I don't think we have anything to worry about, on that score.

Ms. Bachmann is certifiable. "How dare Nancy Pelosi cross the street! She's never crossed the street before!"

What did these black Congresspeople expect?

How dare they walk to work?

Isn't there a separate (but equal) entrance they could have walked in?

Everything that is being spoken from that side is negative and their message is pejorative. A perfect example is the sign in that picture. She says they are "happy" people, when the entire "movement" holds to the mantra that they are "mad." Now what is it? Are they a bunch of "happy" people that just want to hang out and scream racist and homophobic epitaphs on the steps of Congress? Or, are the just a bunch of "mad" people that want to hang out and scream racist and homophobic epitaphs on the steps of Congress?

What I see, and this is from attending three of these "tea-parties" in both Nebraska and my home state of Minnesota, is a bunch of scared shitless people that are finally (Thank that fallacious God) realizing that they are NOT entitled to a god-damn thing. Many of these people I have witnessed live on skimpy pensions, social security, and severely impoverished fixed incomes. These people are scared beyond belief, mad that they are be rung out like a used piece of leather, and don't have the intellectual capacity to articulate or formulate a cognitive statement. These are people that are fighting against the only party that has ever helped them with things like Social Security and Medicare. They are being handled by a dying, geriatric ideology that values greed, sociopathic behavior, and evil. F*&k these people if they can't see it, as sad as it is a good portion of their electorate base will be dead in the next 10 years, and the majority of youth in this country do not perceive the world this way, though they still have their problems.

Sorry for the rant, this woman fires me up beyond belief.

13. This has echoes of '94
The Right mobilizes itself by creating a reactive national situation. It distracts from problems and subsumes into the "reaction culture". When Democrats get trapped into a reactive state, we become easy to manipulate -- it's how Karl Rove plays with people's minds, by reaction. Rove is pretty much out of the picture now; however the sociopathic temperament that brought Gingerich to power is resurfacing, and it has a charismatic face in Palin.

Just take a deep breath -- it's a long time till November and there is one thing today's (national) Democratic party is singularly lacking for, and that's corruption. Would be awfully strange to see voters vote out the party which distances itself from corruption.

35. One dimensional rant...
As much as you might hate to admit it, a lot of them spent their lives working hard and are simply pissed off about the federal government's spending. The Bush base abandoned him in 2008 over the debt and since it's still skyrocketing, they're still angry about it.

Anybody who has spent 40 years paying bills, putting kids through school and saving for retirement can see the absurdity of our spending policy.

Whoever becomes the next president is going to have to learn to say "Great idea, but we can't afford it."

12. Stupid cow. It's called solidarity.
Speaker Pelosi walked with them to support them - not to incite violence. That was done when these men were yelled at, having racial epithets hollared at them. Another black representative was spat on by these "happy" people.
The teabaggers were the ones trying to incite something when they acted like a goddamn mob. The message being sent to these racist crackers was "your insults won't intimidate us."

What's so hard to figure out, Michelle? Didn't you call yourself Nostradmus?

I love how the rightwing media whores and GOP politicians portray this unAmerican, unpatriotic, lunatic behavior as perfectly normal. We have teabaggers in a vein-popping group rage, protesting the fact that democratically-elected officals are passing laws in a constitutionally-protected process, all the while claiming that they're living in a dictatorship. These same teabaggers - who issue threats of "revolution" and "watering the tree of liberty" and misconstrue the Constitution and the intent of the Founding Fathers - scream about their freedom and their rights while they would take away the freedom and rights of the MAJORITY of Americans who voted for this Congress and this President.

I've never seen such incoherence and stupidity in a political group. They rail against big government while they depend on their Social Security, Medicare,
Medicaid, SS Disability and VA benefits. The avail themselves of "government-controlled healthcare" while they misrepresent and protest healthcare reform for Americans who don't have the benefits they do. They claim they love America but they don't like our form of democracy if it doesn't put and keep their party in power.

I might feel sorry for them if they weren't such assholes.

Only in teabagger land does Democratically losing in a democracy is tyranny and requires a gun. It never occurred to Pelosi. She's not nuts.

Inciting such nice people like that, who have been trained by Beck and Limbaugh to despise Pelosi on sight.

These nice people are marching to Washington on the anniversary of Timothy McVeigh's Oklahoma City attack on April 19th. And they are brandishing guns, just to make a "nice" gesture to our government.

It must be a definition of the word "nice" that I have not been previously familiar.

I never trusted The Hill. This proves my gut was right.

"Democrats have claimed that Tea Partiers shouted the "n" word at black lawmakers as they made their way across the street before the vote. Conservatives, including Bachmann, have said Democrats are fabricating that incident."

That is NOT how you write about something that actually happened. That is how you report on something that is a matter of opinion. And what about the spitting, for crap's sake? Grrrr.

Projection is accusing someone else of doing what you yourself are doing. Take a good look in the mirror Ms Bachmann. Maybe take the time to review just a handful of your comments. It is you who are inciting violence with your bullshit and your lies.
