Magnitude 6.1 Quake Strikes Devastated Haiti
Source: Foxnews.com

BREAKING NEWS — A strong earthquake struck Haiti on Wednesday morning, shaking buildings and sending screaming people running into the streets only eight days after the country's capital was devastated by a previous quake.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the 6.1 magnitude quake hit at 6:03 a.m. (1103 GMT) about 35 miles northwest of the capital of Port-au-Prince. It struck at a depth of 13.7 miles but was located too far inland to generate any tidal waves in the Caribbean.

Wails of terror rose Wednesday from frightened survivors of the apocalyptic quake that struck eight days ago as people as people poured out of unstable buildings.

It was not immediately possible to ascertain what additional damage the new quake may have caused.

7. I live in Lex
They felt it here in 1810 & 1811 on the fringe. Western KY, Memphis, etc., are a different story. USGA shows activity through the years.

Including the one in April 2008 that woke me up one morning.

10. How much more can those poor people take?
I hope everyone on the ground is OK. The last thing they need is to have rescue & aid workers getting trapped in the rubble. Just turned on the TV and haven't seen anything, other than Dem bashing, yet.

What the hell is going on??

15. That'd be the spirits of the flesh and blood bodies donating and working to bring them relief.
I wish them all success. Well, "us", if I daresay so, since I donated too.

16. The first one was a magnitude 7.0 I believe.
There's quakes all over: Cayman Islands, Guatemala, Argentina, Venezuela, Northern California, western Nevada, Yellowstone National Park...

17. Not to bang on you too hard or belittle the seriousness of the headline but...
DU'ers would do ourselves a greater service if we got our headlines from some place other than Faux. Faux is the the head of the hydra we are fighting and against all that we stand for as dems. They have done more damage to this country than any other "news" (propaganda) organization. For DU'ers to keep posting news from their site serves to legitimize them as a news source which they are not. They are the right wing mouthpiece which we rally against. They are the Republican party.

23. I don't doubt the earthquake.

My point is you could easily get this same news from a different more legitimate source therefore bypassing Faux. Every click on that link lends legitimacy to Faux. And as far as politics go you do realize you are posting on Democratic Underground don't you? This site is about politics. I wasn't attacking you I was making a point on DU. Your not the only poster who does it. Many do. But it seems ridiculous to keep feeding the beast that is faux while we are trying to defeat it.

24. Actually I looked. Neither CNN or MSNBC had it up when I posted
Oddly enough, I only heard about it 'cause it became the subject in the chat of a game I was playing, and fox was the only source at the time. Apparently they were the fastest to take the AP feed and throw it up.

I woulda used a different source had I found one.
