43. boo hoo...Americans love complainers...not
I love that they are already whining, because EVERY time a campaign resorts to whining it seems they lose.

Notice the Dean campaign started going downhill in mid-December when it seemed like all they were doing was whining about the media.

Let the Bushies whine all they want about the recession they 'inherited' ... Americans love that in their leaders.

49. anybody remember Election 2000
here are some choice memories for you all:

http://www.findarticles.com/cf_dls/m1252/22_127/68647959/p1/article.jhtml

Dec 15, 2000

It became unmistakable in the hysterical and irresponsible reaction of the Bush campaign to the Florida Supreme Court decision allowing recounts, and in the sorry spectacle of Bush, the nation's likely next president, impugning that court's integrity. It reached its nadir when Bush spokesman, Montana Governor Marc Racicot, used a dispute over absentee military ballots to charge the Democrats with "going to war...against the men and women who serve in the armed forces."

<snip>

If it becomes evident that Gore actually won the popular vote in Florida but was denied the presidency because of Republican obstruction of the process, Bush will never win the full trust of the American people. Given the opportunity to demonstrate the sort of bipartisanship he prattled on endlessly about during the campaign, Bush has shown himself to be just as eager as any Gingrich Republican to malign the motives, integrity, and patriotism of his opponents. Promising to bring "honor and dignity back to the White House," he has instead extended the practice of low cunning and self-serving demagoguery that characterizes Washington at its worst.

If Bush is convinced, as he says he is, that he won the vote in Florida, why hasn't he put his trust in the democratic system he proposes to lead to determine the winner of this election. The first principle of that system is that every vote is equal and every vote counts. At this point, George W. Bush seems to regard that principle as an arcane point of law instead of the lifeblood of democracy.

WASHINGTON - Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) called Wednesday for deeper tax cuts for the middle class than proposed by President Bush (news - web sites) and described his Republican critics as "the most crooked ... lying group I've ever seen." The chairman of Bush's re-election campaign called on Kerry to apologize "for this negative attack."

I'm in China and I can't get links to a lot of mainstream American and British news sources. Just a little snippet gives me a much better sense of what the story is about.

When I lived in the US, sometimes the page was down or otherwise unavailable. If you could cut and paste just a little it would help me (and probably other people) out.

Cheers.

17. Very Presidential remarks
Kerry blasts 'crooked' Republicans

"Keep smiling," one man said to him.

Kerry responded, "Oh yeah, don't worry man. We're going to keep pounding, let me tell you -- we're just beginning to fight here. These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group of people I've ever seen."

"It's scary," replied another worker.

He knew he was being recorded, he could endear himself to the Bush haters, but was vague enough that he could be talking about the republican attack operatives and not bush. He knew he was being taped. Kerry's too savvy to "flub" something like this on accident. Either way, I'm impressed :)

Kerry knew full well that he was on an open mike. He's trying to shore up the base, and I suspect this was timed to counteract the likely ill feelings some Democrats would have to the McCain VP idea float.

Besides taking money to promote Halliburton on the Hill, check this one out: http://www.montanaforum.com/rednews/2003/12/19/build/ethics/gop-bnsf.php?nnn=5

<snip> "Gov. Judy Martz and former Gov. Marc Racicot have ties to the railroad company that Martz has said charges Montana farmers the highest shipping rates in the nation and that recently announced a rate increase expected to cost Montanans $5 million or more"

<snip> "Racicot, under whom Martz served as lieutenant governor, is now on the BNSF board of directors.

He was paid $57,000 in 2003, BNSF records show. In addition, he received 4,400 shares of BNSF stock as stock options.

Racicot did not respond to several phone calls seeking comment for this story."

That Racicot wants an applogy?

Dear Senator Kerry, please wipe the floor with these lying, cheating, greedy bastards. And show Racicot for the bastard he is.

GOP demanding apology from Kerry

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- The Bush campaign is demanding an apology from Sen. John Kerry after the presumptive Democratic nominee called his Republican opponents the "most crooked ... lying group of people I've ever seen."

A Kerry spokesman later said the senator wasn't referring to the president but to those behind what he characterized as a GOP attack "machine."

But the chairman of the Bush re-election campaign, former Montana Gov. Mark Racicot, isn't buying it. He says Kerry should apologize.

"Senator Kerry's statement ... was unbecoming of a candidate for the presidency of the United States," Racicot said.

<snip>
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/03/11/main/

And we all know W as never said anything unbecoming of a pResident.

This should be a pretty easy one for Kerry to handle, and might show the GOP for the hypocritical vindictive yammering monkeys they are...

That sure was a "becoming" statement for a "president." Bush says something blunt and it makes him a "regular guy." Kerry does essentially the same thing and Racicot wants an apology???

Here's your apology Mark: We're sorry you're such a loathsome bunch of thin-skinned losers. Now be a good little ex-governor and shut the hell up.

61. don't apologize for telling the truth JK!
No, you should keep doing it exactly the way you did that yesterday. Did the :puke: bastards apologize for the Willie Horton ads? Or the Harry and Louise ads? Nope. Then commence firing, JK!

64. No apology is necessary!
I call this the Tom Daschle test (yes, I know, Tom is merely trying to retain his seat in a majority replicant state). Still, Kerry better not apologize or even issue a statement that remotely hints of an apology. If he does, the replicants will know that they are dealing with another Democratic 'backtracker' and the bloodletting will begin in earnest.

72. Go for the jugular, Mr. Kerry.
It's time those Republican SOB's squirm. They get away with slander all the time: "slander" them right back with the truth.
