Officials Hope To Have New Haitian PM in Next Few Days
Now, I know they say that Aristide willingly resigned and willingly got on the US "chartered", non-military plane, but Haitian Prime Minister Neptune did not. He did not resign. So, can this be any more clear that this was an overthrow of a government? How can they just name a new PM when they already have one?

Friday March 05, 2004 3:56pm

Haiti could have a new prime minister in the next few days. The Organization of American States says a seven-member council has been created to pick the next leader.

A spokesman for the OAS says the council was picked by members of former Haitian President Jean-Bertrand Aristide's party, rebels and international leaders.

The opposition and the international community had demanded a replacement because the current prime minister had ties to Aristide.

1. Who in the international community? Who in Haiti? It is certainly
not the 1000's out in the street protesting.

2. Preposterous!
It doesn't matter WHAT Bush tries to do to this nation of human beings, he's dead wrong to meddle in their politics, and steal away their democratically elected President.

This is the lowest any of our Presidents have EVER gone. It's FILTHY.

Bush's special recess appointment, Otto Reich

4. I've never thought much of the OAS
I don't know too much about it, but it always seemed that the OAS, for the most part, was populated with puppets from many countries controlled by the U.S.

I'm sure there are others here who have better info on the OAS. The OAS always seems to do whatever the U.S. wants.

5. I've never heard of the O.A.S. venturing any opinion on U.S.-backed
right-wing dictators in Latin America, not once, nor on any intervention by the U.S.

I'm not sure it's ever happened, even after Rios-Montt, beloved of Ronald Reagan, burned entire villages to the ground, his military butchering the citizens in scenes straight out of hell, not to mention the Catholic priests, nuns, union workers, students, etc., etc. who have been the perennial target through the years all over the place, from Chile to Mexico.

Our own country has a record of raw agression on union workers and student dissidents, as well, as we all know.
