Kennedy to be buried at Arlington
Source: MSNBC

From NBC's Courtney Kube
A U.S. defense official confirms that the late Ted Kennedy will be buried at Arlington Cemetery -- date and time still TBD.

The official expects he will be buried at the John F. Kennedy gravesite, but that is also still TBD.

Any sitting or former senator is eligible for burial at Arlington Cemetery, but Kennedy's military service alone does not qualify him for burial there since he did not retire from the Armed Forces. His military service alone only qualifies him to be cremated and inurned at the Columbarium at Arlington.

Kennedy served as a Private First Class in the Army, serving from June 25, 1951 to March 27, 1953. He was honorably discharged.

1. Just hearing about this. He was a great man.
He definitely should have been president.

3. Selfishly, I would rather have had him in the Senate for over 40 years than in the
Presidency for 4 or 8 years UNLESS his being President would have spared us Reagan and all that came after him.

2. All three of the brothers saw a better US and tried to bring it to us. We were gifted.
I will always honor them.

4. Yes, very much gifted, but also very much robbed. JFK inspired us so much. He definitely would
have had a second term; and who knows what might have happened? Almost everyone says a Bobby Kennedy Presidency would have changed the course of the United States, if not the world.

And a POS like Strom Thurmond stays in the Senate until he's about 100, but Kennedy gets cancer just when UHC is looking possible?

I will honor all of them, too. And be sorry they were taken much too soon, even Ted.

6. If Bobby had lived....
I've said those words to myself a thousand times since that awful summer.
