Museum Slay Suspect Had List Of Lawmakers

(CBS/AP) James von Brunn, the 88-year-old white supremacist suspected in the fatal shooting of a Holocaust museum security guard, was carrying a list of Capitol Hill lawmakers when he was captured by police, according to a law enforcement official.

The purpose of the list was not immediately clear, said the official, who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.

Police say von Brunn acted alone in carrying out the museum attack, CBS News correspondent Bob Orr reports. But the shooting was hardly his first run-in with the law.

6. you know what i find odd

all of my life I assumed I was some hybrid aryan, german, french, irish, etc...i didnt think much of it. i was raised catholic.
then, one of my kids buys me a DNA test for my birthday.
so all these 50 odd yrs I have no idea that I am an ashkenazi jew. thats what my dna says.
what would any of these anti semitic, racist people think if they had their dna checked..and they were african, or ashkenazi? would they kill themselves?

I would love to take a DNA test as we have some heritage mysteries in our family tree. Do you know how detailed the test is as far as ethnic origins?

And, I think you are absolutely correct about white supremacists and the fact that many of them probably carry a variety of ethnicities that would shock the hell out of them if they knew.

the test is very detailed. I am 90 percent or so ashkenazi..but it also showed dna from afghanistan, and numerous other places, including .08 percent aboriginal australian..which was amazing.

The genome project fascinates me because I never had much genetic information about myself. I cannot even give a medical history when I go to a new doctor.

U.S. Capitol Police have notified a member of Congress whose office address was in the possession of the man charged with murdering a security guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Senate Sergeant at Arms Terry Gainer said that there was no current threat to the lawmaker, whom he declined to name, but that Capitol Police Chief Phillip Morse was staying apprised of reports from federal and local law enforcement for possible developments in the case.

“This case is still under investigation,” Gainer said. “And while did have a member’s office address, there was no threat indication. Chief Morse and his team are monitoring the intelligence gathered from the investigation and assisting as necessary.”

In a notepad officials found in von Brunn’s car, von Brunn wrote that President Obama was “created by Jews” and stated his concern that he would have his weapons taken away, according to a criminal complaint filed Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
