Man who spent 22 years on death row is cleared
Source: CNN.COM

A former death row inmate in Tennessee has been cleared of murder, three years after the Supreme Court raised repeated questions about his conviction.

State prosecutors on Tuesday asked a judge to drop all charges against Paul House, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to die in 1986. Special Judge Jon Blackwood accepted the request.

House had been scheduled to be executed next month for the 1985 murder of Carolyn Muncey. He had been on death row for 22 years but was released on bail last year. He has multiple sclerosis and must use a wheelchair.

2. Amazing....
I have mixed feelings about the Innocence Project because of Barry Scheck but this one time I can say thank god for the Innocence Project.

If there was ever a reason to finally demand that Congress ban the death penalty in this country, this is it. How many times in 22 years did this man escape being murdered, as opposed to executed, by the state of Tennessee? We will never know how many didn't. In any state. Not just Tennessee or Texas.

To hell with states rights. Most of the states with the death penalty apparently cannot accept the reality that executing innocent people for crimes they didn't commit is not what the majority of Americans believe constitutes justice.

3. Another near disaster
It's sad people don't see the injustice of things like this.

The Death Penalty is a mistake.

idiotic successor.

6. Not exactly a nice guy, but this death row stuff is not worth it.
Not as long as we can incarcerate as successfully as we do.
