Rumsfeld "has a problem": Syrian FM
Syrian Foreign Minister Faruq al-Shara said Tuesday that US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld "has a problem", when asked about the US official's accusation that Syria allows militants to cross into Iraq.

Shareh, at a joint news conference with his Danish counterpart Per Stig Moeller, declined to comment on Rumsfeld's remarks Monday that Syria and Iran were allowing militants to cross into Iraq to carry out anti-coalition attacks.

"This question has been asked several times, we have responded to it several times. The repetition of this question shows that the person who made these accusations has a problem," the Syrian minister said.

"The Iraqi people are capable of directing their own affairs. Syria can offer its help in the areas of security, the economy and services," he added.

1. The first salvos in the Bush Administration's preparations for war
I think they have decided on Syria as their next target.

We have a quagmire in Iraq and Afghanistan but we are not done yet! We are seeing the beginnings of the shift in focus.

7. IraqII
Perhaps they have decided they must be at war so the American people will have something else to be distracted about. Syria must be deemed an easier target than Iran.

This administration really needs to be impeached.

3. Syria's Foreign Minister --
-- got that one right, definitely.

Just a thought: if Cheney/Rumsfeld/Wolfowitz et al. decide to attack Syria, Howard Dean should get back in the race.

He would join several million people in Old Europe to condemn the Bush administration even more forcefully than they did last spring.

The administration might be pig-headed enough to do it, but I think if they try to attack Syria, their role in history will be as plundering assholes.

Well, I guess they're that already pretty much.

4. Yeah - his problem is that he's a treasonous genocidal maniac.
I mean, that's MY problem with him. But hey, that's just me, I happen to despise traitors and war criminals. Go figure.

5. Hi, Zhade.
I think "treasonous genocidal maniac" definitely covers it.

Nice post.

10. Hey, thanks. I just call 'em as I see 'em.
Skeletor is about as evil as they come. I can't believe there are Pukellas (female Republicans) who find that walking corpse attractive.

14. Protect the flank..
On a map I would take Syria before I take Iran to protect my flank from not only the Syrians but also the millions of Egyptians should Israel stay out of the festivities. Both Iran and Syria were also mentioned in the PNAC manifesto.
