NRSC to cut Senate Race expenditures
Source: National Senate Republican Committee

Statement from Senator John Ensign, Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee regarding the Committee's Independent Expenditure budget:

"I recently challenged my colleagues to step up to the plate and help me provide the resources our candidates need to compete in races across the country -- to match the DSCC expenditures in targeted races. It has become clear that my call has gone largely unanswered. I have no control over the timing or content of IE ads, but I have had no choice but to decrease the total budget of our IE Unit. It is still my hope that my Republican colleagues will engage in this election and help match what the Democrats are doing. If they do, I will adjust our budget accordingly."

Translation: Don't blame me!

Seriously, it's one thing to cut expenditures when you don't have the money (and when you don't have any hope that they'll make a difference) but since when do you tell everyone?

1. Since when?
Since it is the truth. So why have they been lieing all this time? Because they could.

And they had control of the voting machines all this time. Well, time's up. They're going down.

2. Without their standard 3-1 funding advantage, the GOP is in trouble
It's too bad that so many Republican Senators can be self-funding, but newbies trying to join the club might have a real tough time of things. The GOP brand is so toxic that at least in Oregon, Gordon Smith is trying to convince the public that he won the Democratic primary.

3. I understood the money for RNC was laundered through
complicated and thoroughly corrupt processes. I viewed a YouTube on The Simpsons about how Fox got fined and the money was routed through channels till it ended up in the pockets of Republican candidates. Blew me away.
