HP to cut jobs
Source: Indiatimes Infotech

19 Jun 2008, 0913 hrs IST,AP

SAN FRANCISCO: Hewlett-Packard Co is reshuffling a highly profitable division that makes computer printers and ink cartridges in a shake-up likely to trigger job cuts.

In an internal memo sent on Wednesday, the world's largest technology company said it will pare its printing and imaging group from five to three business units.

The shift will meld together the imaging group's units responsible for ink jet and Web solutions aimed at consumers and small businesses and will combine its laser jet and enterprise operations catering to corporate customers.

The reorganisation, expected to take effect from August 1, will enable HP to "reduce complexity and eliminate duplication" while focusing the printing and imaging division on its biggest growth opportunities, according to the memo from Vyomesh Joshi, who oversees the affected operations.

Snip~ "As part of the overhaul, HP will "rebalance resources as necessary in order to meet the needs of the new structure," said company spokesman Ryan Donovan. He declined to estimate how many workers might be laid off."

3. Fuck HP. Their customer service is already amongst the worlds shittiest.

One of the biggest proponents of outsourcing on the planet. Always looking to save a buck at the expense of the customer. They can fucking rot in hell for all I care. I will NEVER buy another one of their products again. It's too bad they got my employers by the nuts with their overblown contracts. Every time I have to deal with one of their "customer support flunkies" in India, I shred the experience on the customer satisfaction survey they send in email. Not that it will ever fucking matter. They will continue to put people in this country out of work.

8. I had my three rounds with HP
in regards to a POS laptop computer that basically self destructed after 2 months. It took 6 months to get a replacement. We purchased it at Circuit City and they were harassed every week by me since HP would only deal with the store that the computer was turned in to for repair--which was out of state since my dh was traveling for his job. (Of course when I called HP they knew nothing about it, just told me to call the store). Those salespeople at Circuit City in Indianapolis were sure glad to be rid of me!

I'll never purchase another HP computer again. Also, their printers suck-- the ink cartriges empty in only a few weeks--very little capacity.
