Democrats reject Rove offer (to provide written answers to Siegelman questions)
Source: AL

WASHINGTON -- U.S. House Democrats today turned down White House political adviser Karl Rove's offer to provide written answers to questions about the prosecution of former Gov. Don Siegelman, insisting he appear in person, instead.

Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee, led by committee chairman Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., have given Rove until May 21 to agree to testify voluntarily and avoid a subpoena.

Rove has denied allegations that he pressured federal prosecutors to target Siegelman in a criminal investigation in order to damage the Democrat's political aspirations.

1. They need to issue the subpoena now
because it's going to end up in court just like all the others anyway. No way is Rove going to do anything voluntarily.

12. I suppose that's all they can do at this point
I'm beyond frustrated as I know they'd haul my happy ass up there or put me in jail for something unless I cooperated.

2. Why do they have to give him so much time just to "decide" to testify?
Then he'll pull something at the last minute, the way they always do, that will extend the time for the decision.

This drives me nuts, and it happens with everything they do.

Issue a subpoena, back it up with a penalty, and get the job done!!!!

Rove should be in prison, not in front of the TV cameras as a goddamned political analyst.

4. Whenever
you take a dispute in to court, the first thing the judge will want to know is: "What did you do to try to work this out before coming to court and wasting my time?"

Conyers will appear acomodating, and Rove will appear to be the Turd Blossom that he claims to be.

3. Subpoena his sorry fucking ass
Edited on Wed May-14-08 03:11 PM by BOSSHOG
and treat him like the good conservatives in Washington treat other people. If I were a House Democrat I'd take his offer as an admission of guilt. Drag his ugly nasty fucking criminal ass into court, and force him to do what conservativeS dreadfully fear to do, SWEAR TO TELL THE TRUTH!

14. Yes, Subpoena Rove!
I hope that the vertebrae of Democratic representatives solidify into something like a backbone and they subpoena Boy George's familiar and dirty-trickster. This congressional session has turned into an appalling display of Democratic gutlessness in the face of right-wing Republican intransigence.

Hey, you! Jello-spine boy! Let's assume that that the situation was reversed and it was one of Mr. Bill's senior advisers facing a Republican inquiry? would the Gopsters be wringing their hands in fear of Democratic retaliation or having their subpoenas tossed out by the judiciary?

Hell, no! The subpoenas would be flying like mosquitoes over a bass boat!

Issue subpoenas! Do it!

8. Drag his fat over paid ass in front of congress or off to jail.
Who the hell do these neocon fascist pigs think they are and who their kidding? Take the fifth if you want. But I should warn you Mr. Rove we believe you maybe involved in some "traitorous" behavior and we may need to use some enhanced interrogation techniques if you do not cooperate.

Congress first and then the Hague for these criminals.

10. Odd combo there-
"we may need to use some enhance interrogation techniques" and "then the Hague for these criminals". If we engage in the former, should not we suffer the fate of the latter?

11. Oh no, water-boarding
and various other harsh interrogation techniques are completely legal, according to BU$hCo, donchaknow, those are tools that we HAVE to have to keep mercia safe. So based on those arguments from Bu$hCo, lets water-board his fat ass and really find out the truth.

17. BREAKING: And then Democrats whimpered and apologized to Rove, begging his forgiveness and
promising to request his advise and consent on future matters of how to help targeting Democratic Governors for political prosecution.

18. Too Close To The Truth
Your comment is too close to the truth. Where Democrats should roar and bang tables, they meely sit and wring their hands. Time for the Dems to show some fire and grit!
