U.S. Army: Saddam's Hole May Be Destroyed
http://www.heraldtribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20040123/API/401230839

TIKRIT, Iraq --
The U.S. military said Friday it may fill in the spider hole that Saddam Hussein used as his final hiding place to prevent it from becoming a tourist attraction.

Maj. Josslyn Aberle, a spokeswoman for the 4th Infantry Division, said the military has been considering destroying the hole and hut in the village of Adwar, north of Baghdad, which the former Iraqi dictator used before his Dec. 13 capture by American forces.

"The 4th Infantry Division is discussing that it should be torn down so it doesn't turn into a local tourist attraction," Aberle said.

Aberle described any final decision to destroy the site as more "political than military," and believed that consultations would more than likely take place between American military commanders in Baghdad and Iraqi leaders from the U.S.-appointed Governing Council.

Waiting for the next headline…..Halliburton wins $1.2 million no-bid contract to fill Sadddam’s cavity….

1. They have to fill it in so they can put a statue of Bush on top of it.

2. Ummm.....
Wasn't the rationale for Chimpy's war that the Iraqis all hated and feared Saddam? (That was after the rationale that he had WMD's turned out to be a lie and the rationale that he had something to do with 9/11 turned out to be a lie.)

Why would they Iraqis be turning it into a tourist attraction if they hated and feared Saddam?

4. My prediction - It DOES go on tour!
It will be unearthed, a "replica" of SH with the money, briefcase and memos will be affixed after it is cut in half and the exposed sides covered with plexiglass. Each half will have the same display and it will follow shrub on campaign stops and finally will be put back together and laid as the cornerstone of the New WTC at the repuke convention.

Bookmark this one baby!

Note: I find this scenario to be highly probable and even more disgusting.

They must fill in the hole because it resembles the hole in *'s head! It is a bit smaller though ...

9. More pretense that Iraq is teeming with Saddam supporters and
that's who we are fighting. Wonder what there is about the hole that might be incriminating for the US?

11. Explain this to me...
How does one destroy a hole? make a bigger hole? Fill it?

Be wary if Halliburton gets $800,000 to do it.

12. Last echoes of the "We got Saddam!" propaganda?
I see they're still trying to milk it, but this is getting pretty desperate even for the Bushies. How many Freepers posts saying "It should be filled with excrement, and set on fire, and then he should be dunked in it!" can this thing generate, anyway? ;-)

13. Come on, now, what is wrong with a tourist attraction
A few weeks ago they wanted to turn an ancient ruin into a tourist site, one that had been used for the opening of the movie Exorcist, strictly for the sake of economic development. Now they want to destroy a perfectly good tourist attraction. This could become a big money maker for the locals, once Chalabi/Bush hang Saddam and turn him into a martyr.

15. It must turn into a "LOCAL" tourist attraction?
Bring it to Crawford, TX so that ASSHOLE pres. has somewhere to hide in after it loses the next election. Fitting, a giant rat hole for a giant rat.

Didn't those morons want to remove the whole hole and bring it to the US? What kind of moron came up with that moronic idea?

They going to sell small vials of "Sadaam Sand" on ebay or something?

19. you guys are evil!
Visualizing the hole (with plastic Saddam insert) following up *'s campaign motorcade on a flatbed -- I darned near laughed myself sick!

And the spectacle of it being incorporated into the WTC memorial ... geez, don't give Karl ideas, this could happen!
