Huckabee still getting paid on the speech circuit
Source: CNN

DES MOINES, Iowa (CNN) – Even as he runs for president, Mike Huckabee is still getting paid on the speaking circuit, a campaign spokeswoman confirmed Wednesday.

The former Arkansas governor gave two or three speeches in November and plans to give several more in February and March, according to Huckabee spokeswoman Kirsten Fedewa.

Fedewa says Huckabee has not given up his speaking jobs because, unlike other sitting senators or governors or otherwise wealthy candidates, he needs the cash.

“This is how he earns his living, through paid speeches, and being on the speaking circuit is a tried and true tradition among former officials.” Fedewa told CNN.

She did not immediately know what groups he was addressing or who was paying for the speeches.

Huckabee’s decision, to accept paid speeches when he can, first reported by The Politico, does not appear to pose any legal dilemmas for the presidential candidate. It is, however, highly unusual for a White House hopeful to accept money to speak. His fee, according to Fedewa, is up to $25,000 per speech.

3. He's not running for anything. That's what the problem is--
remember the big stink about Giuliani still accepting speaking fees right after he announced his run? Why isn't there a stink being made about Huckabilly? It's universally unethical--you should NOT get paid a salary for giving your campaign stump speech. If you can't see the problem with that, then you're pathetic.

4. What does Fuckabee have to say that any organization would
be willing to pay $25,000 to hear? Especially since people can attend a campaign event and hear the same damn tripe for free. There are some real suckers out there.

6. He could come to my church
But I don't think our $75 honorarium would quite register. And he doesn't seem terribly interested in peace and justice issues, so . . .
