US military kill Iraqi policemen
The United States military in Iraq says its soldiers have shot and killed two Iraqi policemen embroiled in a family feud after mistaking them for assailants.

A military spokeswoman says the soldiers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade were sent to respond to reports that two families were fighting.

When they arrived, they saw two men carrying weapons and wearing long coats firing at a house.

As the soldiers approached the men attempted to flee.

2. "As the soldiers approached the men attempted to flee."
.
.
.As the soldiers approached the men attempted to flee. !!

aaaahh hmm

- this would suggest that the soldiers shot them in the BACK ??

From the article:

"The soldiers pursued them, shouting warnings and firing warning shots, but the men did not respond.

They killed one outright and the other died before reaching hospital, while a third man was unharmed.

It later turned out all three were policemen."

/snip/

Can't these soldiers shoot arms, legs ?

- do they hafta KILL everything ?

and won't OTHER policemen sorta not trust the Military evn more now ?

That's one hell of a "recruiting" incentive for the "policemen" !!

And they wonder why the UN is reluctant to return - - -

Now, silly Canuk question,

is this *cough* "friendly" fire,

or just more "collateral damage" ?

Gawd forbid that we just call it MURDER !!

4. the army does not train
front line soldiers to be cops. the mp`s are guarding buildings and compounds, and doing other duties instead of settling disputes. our policies have no relation to reality

5. It hasn't been so long since they killed a larger group of Iraqii cops
This can't help the cop recruitment program.

Shot in the back, as it was mentioned above. What a shame.

6. But meanwhile we are bringing Freedumb and
democracy to these people. "You don't count the dead, boys, when God's on our side."
They should be grateful.
