Kansas Planned Parenthood clinic charged (State AG says charges unsubstantiated)

Source: AP

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - A Planned Parenthood clinic was charged Wednesday with providing unlawful abortions and other crimes by a county prosecutor who had engaged in a high-profile battle with the clinic when he was Kansas attorney general.

Johnson County District Attorney Phill Kline charged the Overland Park, Kan., clinic with 107 counts, 23 of them felonies. Besides 29 misdemeanor counts of providing unlawful late-term abortions, the clinic is charged with multiple counts of making a false writing, failure to maintain records and failure to determine viability.

...snip...

Peter Brownlie, Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri's president and chief executive officer, said Wednesday that the group hasn't had any contact with the district attorney's office but has heard rumors for months that Kline, an abortion opponent, was planning to file criminal charges.

...snip...

Attorney General Paul Morrison previously reviewed all of the allegations upon which Kline's criminal charges are based and found no wrongdoing, Morrison spokeswoman Ashley Anstaett said.

Why does this dound like another Judge Roy Moore situation, with a former AG who never got over being chucked out of office?

Phillip D. "Phill" Kline (born December 31, 1959) is the district attorney of Johnson County, Kansas, USA. From January 2003 to January 2007, he was the attorney general of Kansas. Kline, a member of the Republican Party, lost re-election as attorney general to Democratic challenger Paul Morrison on November 7, 2006, 58%-41%.

1. Phill Kline is like a bad fart...
By the time you notice him, he's already done his worse.

This SOB has been trying to make public the records of family-planning clinics in an attempt to frighten and intimidate those women who would seek help.

His job as Johnson County D.A. can be attributed to the bizarre nature of how he was elected:

Kansas: Phill Kline's election as Johnson County DA "insults" democracy & voters

By Diane Silver

Are people angry in Johnson County about deposed Attorney General Phill Kline's election to be their district attorney? Oh yeah.

Boo Tyson, executive director of the the Johnson County MAINstream Coalition, explains how her organization feels about Kline being put into office by the votes of 316 ultra-conservative GOP activists.

Hope and Politics

That's right, Kline represents 316 citizens of a county with a population of 516,731.

This guy's a worthless POS...:grr:

4. It's a common nickname for him here in Kansas
because there's another NE Kansas politician named Phil Kline who is also a Republican, just not a nutcase Republican.

***

Phil Kline (single "L") is a former long-time state lawmaker from Leawood who once served as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee. He served in the Legislature with his "double L" namesake. To distinguish the two, lawmakers referred to Single L Kline, who is older, as "Classic Kline" or "One L."

3. This is the same SOB that wanted a 18 year old mentally challenged
male to serve a 17 year sentence for having consensual oral sex with a boy from his school (who I think was either 14 or 15). Had the younger boy been a female, he would only be looking at a maximum 15 months.

This man said the state had a "right" to criminalize homosexual acts more severely and continued to prosecute even after the Supreme Court's decision in Lawrence v. Texas in 2003.

He's probably receiving money and support from one of the many Kansas interest groups and even "Concerned Women For America" who have been fighting with the Kansas Planned Parenthood for months.

6. I'd like to see them sue him for this
Get a taste of his own medicine.

Then throw him out of his position.

7. Potentially they could sue for malicious prosecution
I think their case would be particularly strong if this is the same clinic he tried this with before.

8. That's what I was thinking
Seems to be a pattern here, motivated by his personal political goals. Not acceptable.

these nutjob anti's will stop at nothing.

Documents in that case remain sealed as well, and neither Kline nor Planned Parenthood have discussed it, but Morrison warned Planned Parenthood's attorneys in June that Kline appeared to still have access to copies of patient records he had obtained as attorney general. Morrison said those records were forwarded from the attorney general's office to the district attorney's office a few days before Kline left the attorney general's office....

Portions of the sealed documents were leaked to Fox News commentator Bill O'Reilly, who discussed them in a segment where he interviewed Kline days before Kline lost his re-election bid in November. Kline has denied being the source of the leak.

In a delicious twist, it would be KKKline's successor, Morrison, who would be in a position to "Nifong" the POS!

edit: spelling
