MND-B patrol struck by roadside bomb
Multi-National Division – Baghdad PAO

BAGHDAD — A Multi-National Division - Baghdad Soldier was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated during combat operations in a southwestern section of Baghdad June 6. Two other Soldiers were also wounded in the attack and evacuated to a Coalition medical facility for medical treatment.

Elements of this unit continue to work together with their Iraqi Security Force counterparts conducting clearing operations in this area in an effort to find and remove active insurgent and militia forces to provide a more secure and safe living environment for the Iraqi people.

The deceased Soldier’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin and release by the Department of Defense.

1. U.S. toll tops 3,500 in Iraq
BAGHDAD - Another U.S. soldier was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq, the military said Thursday, pushing the four-year death toll for American forces to 3,501, according to an Associated Press tally.

The count includes 23 deaths in the first six days of June, an average of about four per day.

The soldier was killed Wednesday when a roadside bomb exploded during combat operations in a southwestern section of Baghdad, a military statement said. It added that two other soldiers were wounded in the attack and evacuated to a coalition medical facility.

The soldiers' names were withheld pending notification of relatives.
