5. Only tinfoil if you're not paying attention.

Your government takes tectonic weapons seriously, even if you don't.

In 1997 William Cohen, then-Secretary of Defense, warned of countries "engaging even in an eco-type of terrorism whereby they can alter the climate, set off earthquakes, volcanoes remotely through the use of electromagnetic waves."

4. Schroeder has passed on Germany's condolences and offers of help
Has the Chimp even been informed? The news didn't mention him at all.

The U.S. could have absorbed a 6.7 quite well, which illustrates the rickety living conditions people in the Middle East must tolerate.

The U.S.' idea of "helping out" is by bombing them back to Biblical times.

6. Chimpy has a chance to make a goodwill gesture.
Offer aid to quake-stricken Iran. That might score some points for his international rep, wouldn't it? Of course, to stay true-to-form, he wouldn't actually honor any offers if they accepted.

8. This as my first thought and hope for the Iranians as well as the US
We are always the first to wage war. Even some third world countries offer aid before America does in these instances.

That being said, 20,000 people dead from an earthquake sure as hell puts things in proper perspective for the coming New Year.

7. Russia has pledged support, too.
Wonder what bush&co will offer to do? Haven't we helped in the past?

10. bush cannot offer help because that would require compassion
He is probably busy with his gang, trying to figure out a way to offer pseudo-sympathy while at the same time warning Iran not to interpret it as the U.S. going soft on its "Axis of Evil" policy.

13. The middle east
gets lots of earthquakes. It's one of those parts of the world where a couple of plates come together and is very seismically active. Always has been. Sort of like California. And Japan.
