Mad Cow, Durable-Goods Data Push Dollar to New Lows

NEW YORK -- The dollar fell to a new record low against the euro Wednesday, as weak U.S. durable-goods-orders data and several countries' suspension of U.S. beef imports prompted widespread selling.

"Had it not been for the mad cow stuff, we could have been in for a quiet day today," said a senior currency dealer at a Japanese bank in New York. "But it provided the market with fresh dollar-selling momentum."

Then the November durable-goods-order data hit the wires and the dollar started to head lower, eventually tripping stops as the fresh lows were hit.

6. Yikes - I read only 30 pages (out of 253) - scary stuff in there !

. . worth the read - just the first ten pages should be enough to put one off beef for awhile.

. . the fact that England banned "feeding cows to cows" years ago should have been a hint to the USA

. . and the fact that the Human equivalent appears, and could quite easily be passed off as Alzheimer's, is VERY scary.

. . as this book indicates (gotta call it a book at 253 pages - ain't no "article" !)- the Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) can take years to BEGIN showing symptoms. A whole generation could be "infected" before an outbreak occurs, and if the Govt passes suspicious deaths off as what we are familiar with as Alzheimer's, who's to know?

And the Beef Industry is "protected". After all, admittedly, it would cost the beef industry to change it's habit of grinding up all these dead cattle and re-introducing them into the food chain.

Yuck, somehow a burger don't look so good anymore.

If you have the patience definitely read the first ten pages or so, BEFORE you eat!

8. The dollar isn't "low," according to Bush at his last press conference

It's "strong"....he has a "strong dollar policy."

That ought to indicate to every foam-at-the-mouth-republican that the Chimp is making it up as he goes along. He doesn't have a clue.
