Lawyer says Limbaugh paid blackmail money
Rush Limbaugh paid "substantial" blackmail to a former maid before she told law enforcement and a tabloid newspaper about his addiction to prescription painkillers, his attorney told a judge yesterday. Attorney Roy Black said that Limbaugh could not complain to authorities about the maid's demand for $4 million because they would use the information against him, and that the maid and her husband "bled him dry" before going public anyway. The claim was made during a court hearing where Black asked that medical records related to Limbaugh be kept secret. (AP)---full text---

1. So, any way you slice it...
Rush knew what he was doing was illegal. Now maybe, conspiratorial.

Lock the mofo up. The sooner the better. It is what he'd advocate if he were anyone else but himself.

by these clever criminals. <sniff> Surely he has
suffered enough for his innocent mistakes? <snuffle>

3. "could not complain to authorities" ???
In other words could not do the right thing, assuming he was telling the truth in the first place. Gotta love those conservative ethical standards.

Question for Lawyers - How does the charge of blackmail relate to the request to keep the med records sealed?

4. Obvious tactic to make it seem as if LESS money actually
went for drugs.

In other words, of all the money he laundered, most went to pay off blackmail, and therefore he's saying what he actually paid for drugs is much less than the total.

Transparent, lying sack of crap!

I now see Rush is capable of using his "talent on loan from God" to distort the truth in the legal arena, I just hope America finally sees him for who he is.

8. This Just Shows What a Pathetic Weakling He Is
If true, he had the option of going public & working with the police ages ago, and chose to give in to blackmailers and keep getting his fix.

Screw 'em.

9. But there's a perfectly good excuse

to explain why Mr. Limbaugh is as innocent as a fresh mountain breeze.

His attorney, Mr. Black (gotta love that name for his lawyer) explained that the reason Mr. Limbaugh paid the hush money was to entrap his blackmailers. You see, Rush was sacrificing himself to stop some "evil doers." He just happened to get "caught in the middle" because he is "special" and "people are out to get him."

In taking this heroic action, Mr. Limbaugh was apparently following the lead of his idol, Elvis Presley. Camp-culture mavens and Konspiracy Kooks alike will delight in recalling how the "King" gave himself over in the service of cross-dressing FBI Chief J. Edgar Hoover, and his relentless "war on evil.")

El Rushbo could do no less than to emulate the "King." Evil doers (of any ilk) beware. Rush is gonna get ya.

Rush still has strength left. He will continue his krUsaDe to eliminate "eViL," and to faithfully serve the Corporate Profit Masters who have made him so agonizingly rich and visible.

Listen with aWe inspired by G*d,
while Rush twists slowly in the wind ---

12. Will the judge buy into this defense?
Or will the judge rule that Rush Limbaugh & Roy Black should seek retribution in another court, and that this case is not about abolitionism? LOL!! I hope!

can wage war on Tommy Chong, but somehow Rush is out of his reach. Ashcroft must be busy investigating the White House for the CIA leak

14. yes, where is the action on the federal charges?
They have all the paperwork from the bank where Rush committed the federal crimes of structuring. The bank has already admitted to their part and provided all the evidence of the clients like Rush who were structuring. Indeed, the bank has paid $10 million fine. With incontravertible proof that Rush committed at least 30 acts of structuring as defined by the federal money laundering acts, the federal prosecutors are strangely missing in action.

Palm Beach County shouldn't have to be the leaders in this matter. The feds have evidence of federal crime and should be doing their share.

It's good to know that even if our federal prosecutors lack honesty and courage when it comes to the GOP, there are still some local entities who possess gonads.

Ashcroft should be embarrassed. Lessee, Eric Rudolph was caught by a rookie while the FBI screwed off, Saddam was caught by the Kurds, Osama and the anthrax dudes still run free...but Ashcroft can boast he caught Tommy Chong? He is truly a disgrace to our nation and to our hard-working law enforcement rank and file.

They have Rush's head on a platter and Ashcroft is still unable to act.

Pathetic.

15. Strom Thurmond paid blackmail money.....
to hide the truth about him raping a 16 yr old girl, and fathering a black child with her. Wait....this Strom story is a dream. Sleeping with a black child is a lie.

Pigboy limballs paid blackmail money to maid. She was the source of pigboy obtaining illegal drugs by Dennys parking lot. Pigboy was not really on drugs, it was just that the maid blackmailed him. He needed to continue getting his illegal drugs so that he could say today that she was to blame for all his druggy problems and also a victim of blackmail. Is this a dream too?

What the hell is going on with my dreams?
