TAYLOR, Mich. (AP) - A 33-year-old woman faced arraignment Sunday on charges alleging she offered to let an undercover investigator take pornographic photos of her 7-year-old daughter and have sex with the girl, authorities said.

The woman was arrested Friday after meeting with the investigator, the Wayne County sheriff's department said in a statement Sunday.

Authorities said the woman offered to let the investigator take the photos and, when she met with him, discussed being paid in exchange for sex with the child, the Detroit Free Press reported.

State Senator Gwen Howard works for the Nebraska child protective services. I'm sure she will have a lot to say about this. She and I get along great. She is the only union member currently sitting in our legislature. Like me, she is a public servant in AFSCME.

2. ....and the cycle of abuse continues...
This story is so revolting and tragic. How many times has this little girl suffered, prior
to this incident?

It's heartbreaking.

Obviously, this mother is damaged and probably a victim of sexual abuse herself. I'm not excusing
her horrendous behavior one bit. However, situations like these--which are an epidemic--are the result
of our society not taking child sex abuse seriously and being in denial about how common childhood sexual
abuse really is.

Sad. Really sad.

3. Sub-human trash
I hope the girl gets a chance to grow up in a normal environment after her despicable mother is locked up.

The girl and her four siblings, ages 12, 11, 9 and 6, all were in protective custody, Roach said.

The name of the woman, who lives in this Detroit suburb, wasn't being released to avoid identifying the child, the sheriff's department said.

She faced five charges, including child sexually abusive behavior, illegal use of the Internet for child sexually abusive actions or materials and distribution of child sexually abusive material, Roach said.

She also was charged with prostitution, since the department said she propositioned the investigator herself. The department said the woman advertised herself online as a prostitute.

If convicted, she could get up 20 years in prison.

6. It says only 20 years maximum sentence.
I don't think the law was written for people like this. She must be an insane meth addict to do something so evil.

I wonder how long before we see this plot on Law and Order: Special Victims? They exploit this kind of stuff in a very sickening way.

God, the poor kid. How incredibly tragic.

8. She will get charged with multiple counts
I dealt with a case like this in the same court system she will face. The perpetrator was charged with 7 different counts of child abuse, to cover each incident and each act involved in each incident. He was found guilty of all counts, and given consecutive 20 year sentences, which is, in effect, a life sentence. We don't have the death penalty in Michigan, and I am glad of it. Life in prison is good enough for me. Whereas the courts in Wayne County have a reputation for plea-bargaining, they don't in these kinds of cases unless they don't have a cooperative or stable witness in the child (kids who have been sexually abused to the degree this child probably has frequently have mental health problems, unfortunately). But they got her through her own actions and her discussions on the computer, so they will have a strong case going in.

10. From what I understand, her prison term will be hell
...much more of a hell than it would have been if she had robbed a bank or even killed someone.

The many mothers of children who will live with her in prison will not take kindly to her actions.
