Naval Academy Looking at Cruise Behavior
Source: AP

The Naval Academy said Tuesday it is investigating allegations of lewd behavior and heavy drinking by a group of midshipmen on a spring break Caribbean cruise.

One passenger wrote that she and other women were groped, and that some of the midshipmen offered alcohol to teenage girls on the cruise.

The allegations hit as the academy has been trying to stop alcohol abuse and sexual impropriety following two sexual misconduct cases allegedly involving academy football players.

"The Naval Academy is reviewing allegations of possible misconduct involving midshipmen aboard a cruise ship during spring break," March 10-18, the academy said Tuesday in a statement.

4. There's something odd about Navy people vacationing - on a ship???
When I'm on vacation (almost never, it seems) the LAST place I want to be is in an office cubicle...

5. Vacationing
These guys were from the Naval Academy. The only ships they have seen have been 6 week training cruises during the summer months.

6. Some sailors offered booze to teenagers?
This is unprecedented. They should throw the book at them.

7. this conduct, if true
(innocent until proven guilty), would definitely be a violation of the Academy's Code of Conduct (and in this layman's eyes definitely qualify as "conduct unbecoming and officer"). If so, then they should face the punishments as detailed. If it's expulsion, then out they go...right out on their collecetive asses...

8. Sigh...very unbecoming.
I'd like to believe it's not true, living in Annapolis, but if it is true, then they do not belong at the Naval Academy. The only Mids I see are at the mall, and they're all well behaved.
