Presidential Hopefuls Eye Forums Limit
WASHINGTON (AP) - Campaign aides for the leading Democratic presidential candidates have been working together on how to keep their bosses apart - at least for a while.

Representatives for Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama and 2004 vice presidential nominee John Edwards contacted Democratic National Committee executive direction Tom McMahon to request a meeting. The top advisers to Clinton and Obama then secretly came to McMahon's office together Wednesday and asked him to bring some order to the schedule of joint appearances.

In the next three months, there are two candidate forums scheduled in Nevada, a debate in New Hampshire and a debate in South Carolina. More gatherings are in the works for the year.

The candidates are concerned about fitting all the joint appearances into their schedules, but are afraid to turn down invitations and upset the influential hosts who sponsor the gatherings. They want the party to set the limits so they don't have to, something that DNC officials said they are exploring with the nine candidates.

2. That's the problem w/
announcing twenty- two before an election. What the hell is wrong w/ these people? I don't want to listen to their BS maneuvering for the next 22 months - announcing a year out is enough already.

4. On the other hand -
I never heard about Whitewater until the story hit the New York Times after the convention. Yeah, I know that Whitewater was a whole lot of nothing, but it was a stick the Republicans used to essentially bring government to a halt for years. How many of the delegates knew about WHitewater before the convention, and would that knowledge have changed votes? Remember, Al Gore was also a candidate for the Presidential nomination that year. How would history have been different if he had been in charge for eight years?

This way, all the laundry is going to be on the table and we all will get a chance to decide if a candidate has problems or not.
