Dolphins Stranded In N.Y. Cove
POSTED: 9:43 am EST January 15, 2007

EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. -- Attempts to save between 20 and 30 dolphins will continue Monday as rescuers hope to get the mammals back in open ocean before a cold snap hits.

The dolphins are caught in the shallow waters of a cove in East Hampton.

A group of about 30 became stranded last week, and five have died. Rescuers Sunday tried to herd them out to deeper water but were unsuccessful.

Recent warm temperatures and abundant bait fish lured the dolphins to the shallow waters of the cove.
